Hello Gang! First time poster (but a 30-day lurker!) We decided just 28 short days ago to make our first family trip to WDW (YIPPEE), and I have been quietly reading these boards for the past month. We leave for 8 magical days next week and I wanted to send out a BIG THANK YOU for all of your help.
Thanks to your advise we were able to:
Book Poly GVC DreamMaker for $3011.00 for 7 nights! *Plus $100.00 Disney Dollars back at checkin *
Plan a workable itinerary for 2 DD (6 & 12 - Not an easy task as their idea of "fun" is soooo different!)
Save $500 on airfare by leaving on the last flight out the night before and grabbing a room at the Airport Days Inn for $39.99 (plus we get the *whole* 1st day to enjoy WDW now!) We had originally thought the first flight to MCO on Saturday morning. This was a GREAT tip!
Saved a few bucks (and a bunch of time) by reserving a Towncar for our transfers as opposed to the Shuttle. They'll even pick us up at the hotel instead of the airport for the same price!
Have our golf clubs, large suitcase and big box of necessities (extra water, juice, goodies) all ready to ship down ahead of time. I am involved with a transportation company that will deliver everything directly to the resort the day before we arrive (and yes, they will accept it before we check in!)
Start packing! The threads for what to pack were a lifesaver! I never would have thought of half that stuff and most can be boxed or packed up well in advance.
I even arranged through Disney Florist to have small gift baskets in the room for the kids when they arrive!
I know this post is long and I will jump off now, but I want you all to know how special this trip is. I had always promised the kids when youngest turned 6 we would go to Disney World. I got sick 3 years ago. After several surgeries and a couple rounds of chemo I didn't know when we were going to be able to go. Well my youngest turns 7 in July and Mom kept her promise - we are even going to go parasailing!
Bless all of you, and THANK YOU for helping me plan (and keeping me company), while I got it all together!
