We're planning on cruising in August. I would love to go on this new Eastern itinerary! Anyone have any other information?

We went to San Juan last year when a hurricaine diverted the ship. It was very nice. We took a bus tour of the city and then did some shopping. My sister and her family did a snorkel trip and enjoyed it very much. The old Spanish Fort (Fort El Morro) can be seen as you come into the harbor. It is spectacular! The people were very friendly. The day we were there they were not scheduled to have any ships in port. Because of the storm they had 3! One shop owner told me they rushed to open that day when they got the word that ships were coming in. They were normally closed that day. The owner also told me they were very happy to have the Disney ship there. It was the 2nd time DCL came to PR.We docked at what looked to be a new pier. There is a large shopping area there but many stores were closed (maybe because we were not expected?)
My only reget is that I did not have time to research the port very well. We only found out we were going there the day before. I like to research ports and book things "on our own". The buses were lined up along the road outside the pier.So we hopped on one and got the "lay of the land". DH went back after the tour and explored the Fort.
Hope this helps.
