So I just finished watching the new planning DVD, which i was looking forward to for weeks. Well sadly, I was not impressed. I just didn't like it. It didn't have the same feeling as the past DVD's. I also thought they spent WAY too much time on the dream segments and not enough talking about the park itself.

Anyone else feel the same??

We liked ours.. :thumbsup2 I actually thought it was much better than last years. "Which was pretty dog gone good". I enjoy ANYTHING that has to do with trip planning Disney. It would have to be REALLY BAD for me to not like it

I feel the same too...I liked last year's b/c it got me pumped for my first WDW vacation. It showed more of the rides, food, etc. This one was cute but it didn't do anything for me. Different for sure but not in a good way. :guilty:

We just watched ours tonight. The main part was just "OK". You're right in that it just didn't have the same "feeling" as past DVD's. The "Fun Stuff for Kids" part was more fun to watch....and I'm WAY older than the "tweens" used in the video! Haven't watched the adult section yet. I think it didn't have the dsame fel because it didn't have a lot of those "real people" interviews about the rides and shows.

FINALLY got ours yesterday, but haven't gotten the chance to watch it yet! I'll let you guys know after the weekend, but right now we're so excited to go that I can't imagine being disappointed by it (unless it turns out to be about something other than Disney!)

I enjoyed it! You just have to be sure you go through each section because they all have new and different information. I actually enjoyed the way it was broken up since I can skip the water park information easier now!

Well, I have been getting them every year for ever and I kinda like this one. The dreams part got me teary eyed! I think those ARE real people, which I kinda like better than the actors they used last year (I thought everyone HATED "Luke") :confused3 Also, the cast members are all real and I love the parts when they talk about making the trip special for the guests. I do agree maybe that it shows a little less of the parks themselves, it seems to be more about that "Magical Feeling" that you get from WDW, but overall I love it and have already watched it twice. I guess it is hard coming up with a new one year after year, of course they are gonna try different themes and such. Oh well, YMMV!

I liked it better than the last couple of year's DVDs. This one left me teary eyed, whereas the old one left me wanting to smack Luke and "the bench guy" got old fast. I rather the narrator and real people, than the hosts. I did not like the cool stuff for kids and only watched a few minutes, but I'm not a pre-teen and my only child is one, so it was not meant for me anyway. I also agree that the "dream" segments could be a bit shorter. It was also difficult for me to find the info for small children at first. It should have been in the same place as the adult and cool stuff for kids info.

When is the Year of a Million Dreams scheduled to end?

The dream sequences were nice though...I didn't watch the kid section yet. maybe if I do then I will like it better. Plus, we have never done a waterpark before so if there is a section about those that would be helpful. I'm not sure how I missed it the first time thru..lol But that one person was right..it's Disney and no matter what I still am excited to go again! :)

I was a little disappointed. I really liked the previous one better. This one to me just flashes to fast from one thing to another. When you really want to look at what they are showing you... bang the scene has changed. I did like the cast members parts...

But on the bright side, its still from DISNEY!! :)

BF felt that way too, he said there wasn't enough about the rides and he missed Dave from the last one. He also thought thought most of the CM stories could be better.

I wasn't a fan of this one, but at least it wasn't the annoying top 7 girl.

I completely agree! I was so bored I was falling asleep on it. I got the whole "dreams" theme the first fifty times I heard it. I wanted to see more about the parks :)

Yeah I felt the same way too. My kids didn't watch it yet, because we are surprising them, they cannot know we are planning. But it wasn't anything magical like I thought it was going to be, and alittle boring. Oh well, i'm sure my kids will be impressed when we watch it the day we surprise them. I was REALLY hoping for the music that is on the commercial to be on there. I love that.

I was also disappointed; I haven't even watched the whole DVD yet, it's just too "cheesy"?
I guess I just had different expectations.

I am just amazed at the number of threads complaining about something that is free. :confused3

While I might be complaining about something that is free, I have to say the last planning video appealed to me more. I loved the "bench guy" was that Luke? I do enjoy some of the enthusiasm of the CMs (soaring, Cinderella character handler) but felt there wasn't enough footage of the resorts or restaurants. JMHO

Edited to add: And what's with the footage of Spaceship Earth prior to the Millenium? I'm in the camp that like the Mickey Wand.

I thought everyone HATED "Luke"
Was he the "chump"? If so, yeah, he was VERY annoying at first, but the more I watched it (gotta admit... weve watched the last one a dozen or so times when bored) the more I thought he was kinda humorous. I like the park bench guy! :thumbsup2
The clouds... my mind was going "Hey! Whats going on? This isnt a planning video... its a soap opera".
Im going with neutral. Not bad, but not good. I liked the ones best that were older. We have SEVERAL planning videos and DVDs. The ones on VHS were my favorite. More "classic disney". We buy up any and all old planning videos at flea markets and yard sales. Weve got quite a collection.
