Just got the new, gen public discount but...

... I could only get it for our first night since we check in Oct. 11. Since the wording of the discount says for "check-in dates between 9/28/08 and 10/11/08", I was hoping maybe I would get it for the whole stay like back in the good ole days. (Heavy sigh) I'm not complaining - I did save about $45 just on the one night. But has anyone had any luck getting the code applied to dates after the 11th? I'm wondering if it's worth a call back to try with another CM.

Btw, I got a preferred room at Pop for about $64 before tax. And the CM I spoke with sure did ask a lot of questions. I've never been asked to provide that much information when I gave a 3 letter code. He asked where I heard about the code, what dates it covered, if I knew what kind of rates were being offered - good grief, isn't he supposed to have all that? And since I already had a reservation, he even asked what rate I already had. I can't imagine what difference that would make. Kind of odd.

As soon as I saw the room only code I was so excited that I didn't even bother to read the whole article until I came to my senses a few mins. later to find out the code is only good up until 10/11. Disney will not give a discounted room beyond this date even if your check-in date is the 11th or before.

I am hoping that a room only discount comes out for after 10/11. Normally, the window of opportunity is bigger than the posted new code from 9/28-10/11 so I am really hoping they make one.

I read somewhere that Disney change their computer system and can now charge each night at different rates. They use to charge the check in date for the whole stay.

Disney uses date based pricing now. The CM had nothing to do with it, he put the code in, you got a discount on the date it applied to. Calling back will do nothing

Mbanks21, thanks for the info. Just to go OT for a minute. What about the free dining. If a person books that at the end of the window, 10/8 for a week, will they get the free dining throughout the stay or just the one day?

Maybe he was trying to see whether the rate you already had might be better than the code, since you can't stack discounts?

Do you have any discount at all? I don't know where you are staying, but I believe some moderates and values are still offering the GP discount. We used this for our 9 night vacation even though we have annual passes. Just reduced the pass to a base pass, and still saved quite a bit on our trip.(two rooms, POP) We can upgrade and use the passes at a later date. I think the only Deluxe available is OKW.

Free dining is differant, you can check in on the last day and get free dining for the stay

Hi, It is under Special Offers on the WDW site, you really have to LOOK for it ! I called and used the CODE MXK and got the lower rate at the BC (10/6-10) the CM was VERY nice when I called and adjusted the price on my reservations. This was for a ROOM ONLY reservation. Good Luck! Joan

I found it on Mousesavers.com. The information there is very reliable, easy to find, and updated often. I can also check it from work. Unfortunately the Disboards are filtered - I can't open the site on my computer at work.

Just to clarify, I figured that I would only be able to get the discount for the first night since Disney has changed to the new system. But the wording of the discount offer seemed more like the way they used to word their offers so I thought maybe I'd get lucky. It's always helpful to find out what others have been able to get with these offers, too. I've learned over the years that you can get very different information depending on the CM you speak with.

Btw, snykymom, that was a good point about why he might have asked what rate I already had. I just assumed that he could see that when he pulled up my reservation but maybe not. He was really nice and seemed to want to be helpful so I bet that's probably it.
