Okay, I literally just got my daughters iPod delivered, I opened the box and NOW WHAT!! The first thing I'm going to do is buy a case/protector for it, does anyone know where I can get one? I'm going to read directions front to back (hopefully they are easy to understand, I am technically challenged). Any advice, the first thing I want to do is put my daughters WMA files on the iPod, hopefully i figure that out before she gets home from school!! I got 3 hours. Wish me luck!

Technologically, I can't help you with loading things, or anything like that. Dh takes care of our iPods.

But, cover wise, we just bought my dd an iSkin for Christmas...it's pretty cool:

check out: www.iskin.com they have lots of different varieties...

or the direct link to the one we bought her: http://www.iskin.com/wildsides.html

I got a really cute case for my iPod at Target. It's faux leather, metallic lime green, and has little silver charms on it. It was 9.99 in the cd case aisle. :)

I also have cling plastic over my display screen and the back of my iPod to protect it from scratches. I ordered it online and love it!

I got DD an Apple Ipod for her birthday and she loves it! I was clueless, but she had it fiqured out. Now for cute accessories for Christmas.

Okay, I read the instructions (if thats what you want to call them) very short, and I plugged in the USB cord to iPod and computer and I am having problems already! NEVER FAILS. When i plugged it in power went to the iPod, the light in on, but I can not get it off the first screen where it says language, and you have to pick the language you want. I tried all the buttons and nothing is happening! I told you i am technically challenged, this happens EVERYTIME i buy anything, What am I doing wrong????

Just wanted to add I know the USB port works because I use it with my digital camera all the time, but when I unplugged it and plugged in the iPod it says something like The USB device is not working or has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognize it. It makes me so mad, nothing goes as it should, did anyone else have this problem the first time?????????

Ok, couple of things here. Did you install the ipod software on the compter first? If you do not do that then the computer will not know what to do with the ipod. Second, did you plug the ipod in before you turned the computer on. This will also cause problems.

The things to do now is unplug the ipod from the comptuer. plug it in to a regular outlet using the power cord. Wait until the only thing you see on the screen is charging with the picture of the battery. Then press the middle button and see what you get.

First, Yes i did install the software first, didn't have any trauma with that! The computer was on and the iPod was off, I assume, the screen was black as i just took it out of the box. After I installed the software, i restarted the computer, and plugged the iPod in to the computer (USB port). The light went on and the first screen came up and it says language, and there is a picture of a batttey in the corner that it all green. I didn't get a power cord with this shipment, I do have a dock coming in a differnt shipment.

Tried doing the same thing on daughters laptop and got same response, and when i tried troubleshooting it says Unknown device and the device malfunctioned or something. When I try to do anything with the iPOD like shut it off, it does NOTHING.

Thanks,

Lory

I Went To Apple Store For Support And Figured Out What To Do If It Is Froze Up And I Actually Got It To Shut Off!!!!!!!!!!! Now It Says Do Not Disconnect (so I Wont) And It Shows The Battery Is Charging!! I Hope This Solves The Problem, I'll Keep You Posted, I May Need More Help, Somtimes I Am Useless When It Comes To This Sort Of Stuff!!!!!!!!!!

The biggest thing to remember is (for now) is never have the ipod plugged into the computer when you turn the computer on or restart the computer. It can mess with both computer and ipod.

Good luck!!

Okay I am listening to some songs on it right now----TOO COOL, my daughter is going to love it.
Now, I went to iTunes and I see all the WMA are being converted, so after they are all done how do i get them onto the iPOD?? I told you I am SAD :guilty:

Thanks so much,

Lory

Just plug your ipod into the computer (While the computer is on) The ipod and itunes magically do the rest.

Mom to 2, I just have to smile because I can feel your anxiety...I want to buy my DD an Ipod for her 9th birthday, but am not even sure where to start, what we need, etc. :flower:
