Just got the Ipod Touch...help needed

OK, boy do i feel stupid.

Just got the itouch for my son. I have it connected to our wifi, but i tried to set up an account at itunes - it asks for a credit card or a gift card # - i don't want to put in my credit card number and do not have a gift card yet - can i not sign up without one or the other?

Also, seems like lots of the "free" aps u need the iphone -

perhaps i need more time to "play" with it!

I have mine set up with my paypal account. I haven't put in a cc number. I also have dozens of free apps. It's just a matter of searching them (there's an app called Pandora's box that will help).

I bought my Ipod Touch 1 week ago. I am not sure about setting up without CC info.. While we each have our own computer at home, mine is the only one with Itunes so I have the CC info entered. They only charge the card when I buy something. No transaction shows for downloading free apps.

There are lots of free apps. I have found alot that say for the Iphone, once you go into the details say that they will also work on the touch.

I think you do have to put some kind of payment form in when you set up your itunes account. I've only ever used gift cards so I don't have to worry about DD going over her limit

I got one about six weeks ago and LOVE it! I activated my account with an ITunes gift card and go from there. The lady and Best Buy recommended that route over credit cards as she said Itunes had been hacked into before (not sure if that is accurate but is what she said) . . .

I have mainly free apps but have paid for a few. I love skeeball, WhiteNoise (free addition), kindle (you can get free ebooks from amazon), bookworm, chess (my boys love), checkers, Greek Gods (boys love this as they read Percy Jackson). I am a school teacher so I downloaded a bunch of apps for my kids to use.

I have mine set up with a PayPal account. My daughter has her own iTunes account for her iPod touch and I redeemed an iTunes gift card and put that on her account instead of a credit card. She also gets an iTunes allowance she uses to buy music, videos and apps.

There are plenty of free apps that work with the iPod Touch. I downloaded a slew of them and put them on DD10's for Christmas.

When you click onto the Apps store on the Ipod Touch you can search by category and when you pick the category (ie: educational) there are 3 tabs at the top and you can search that by top free and it will only show you the apps that are free. We have lots of fun apps and all are free. We have math games, hangman, bowling, tinkerbell flying game, solitare, sudoku, and a lot more. You can also set it up so that you can text people from your ipod. DD7 is dying for a cell phone to text her friends, but using the AIM app she is able to send and receive texts from the ipod to other peoples cell phones and get the replies back. All totally free!

I have an option on my iTunes account for "no payment method"?

I remember having this problem years ago. Good luck!
