just got our annual dues, im not mad anymore , just very confused ! UP DATE !

we just closed on may 9, and our guide told us we will be getting a letter stating our prorated dues for this year within 30 days of closing, and then dvc gives you 2 weeks to pay the dues.
on may 15 we received our official dvc cards, no dues statement.
on may 24 i received my deed, no dues statement.
today i finally received a dues statement with late fees added to my dues.
according to the statement my dues were due may 15.
and of course ms accounting are not there on the weekends.
has this happen to anyone else?
im not late paying my dues, this was our first statement letting us know how much to pay, because dvc had to prorate our dues.

Did you try to call your guide? Guides sometimes work weekends, since tours are 7 days a week.

I'm sure you will be able to straighten it out on Monday.

But I bet if you speak with your guide and accounting on Monday, they should be able to clear up the misunderstanding. I hope they resolve this to your satisfaction!

yes, i tried calling my guide, hes on vacation until monday, i guess ill have to call ms accounting first thing monday and ill just give them my cc and hopefully they will wave the late fees, i dont think we were in the wrong on this, we were told we would be getting our statement, not after the dues were due. i was excited i wanted to start earning cash back with my cc and this would be another % back for us. thanks for all your help!

I've been on the phone for the last week trying to straighten mine out.
I realize DVC is very busy and errors can be made but this was in excess. I have overlooked it all and hopefully in a week or so all will be fixed with no more surprises but your post prompted me to think out loud. Good luck, it will get fixed, just be persistant.

WDWStar, I think you'll be able to get this straightened out on Monday. I just wanted to sympathize and wonder why we always get these type of letters (not just DVC but other bills, notices, etc.) on the weekend when we have to wait until Monday to straighten things out. Try to put it out of your mind until Monday.

WDWSTAR, relax! I am sure a phone call to Member Accounting on Monday will straighten out the annual dues problem.

When we first joined - almost ten years ago - we had an issue about which account the dues would be taken out of. Accounting helped me straighten out the issue with no late fees charged.

thank you for all that replied, after going out for a really nice dinner, it gave me a chance to relax and i decided to call ms accounting first thing monday and they will staighten it out, ive heard great stories on this board and great endings to them, like dh said you can always trust and count on this board to help out and make you feel better, thanks all !

i think your problem is much greater then mine and i hope you get it all resolved too. you could always call mickey mouse im sure he can get it straighten out if ms cant get it straighten out.

I am not questioning the veracity of the OP, but I am curious as to whether you are sure that it is late fees? My guide has always given me the dues amount, but when the bill comes for the dues payment the dues amount the first year is always higher because the dues are prorated from the purchase date but charged after the closing date. In the case of our latest add on, our dues are calculated from April 15 but will not be charged for the first time until June 16--this means that the dues payments need to make up almost two months of dues over a period of seven months and result in a substantially larger dues payment each month than would otherwise be expected.

I did a small add on a few months ago and realized last week I'd never gotten a dues bill. I called to check on it and was told the bill had been mailed April 28 (still haven't gotten it) and my dues were due the following Monday.
I hope you get everything straightened out!

Sounds liek a glicth they need to work on with add ons and dues. I went through DVC and got my due letter way before my DVC cards came.

now i just received this statement yesterday june 7, 2003

im not mad anymore because like everyone said, call monday morning and ms should be able to straighten it out. i just wanted to know if this happen to anyone else.

i was just waiting for my statement to come so i can pay my dues, i dont really like to bother people and next time ill just have to keep calling ms or my guide until i get my statement.

Don't stop posting problems. Even if it simply a clerical error, as this one probably is, even if it can be fixed with a quick phone call, as this one probably can. You can make people aware of something that might go unnoticed on their bill.

The OP mentioned that they closed on May 9 and had received their DVC membership cards, dues statement and Deed by May 24. We closed on May 7 and to date have only received our DVC cards and dues statement. Should we be concerned that we haven't received the deed yet?
Also, do we need anything when we check-in for our stay besides our DVC cards and reservation confirmation letter?

hi everyone, i just called ms accounting and the ms said the dues statement was mailed out to me may 9 the day we closed, and ms said that we were aloud a one time removal of late fees in our lifetime ownership of dvc , so, ms did take the late fees off my dues after about 100 hmm ,hmm, hmm. ms said " the dues statement went out, it did not come back, hmm,hmm,hmm." " i dont understand why you havent received it, hmm,hmm,hmm." it sure sound like ms didnt believe me about not receiving it, and i kept saying i have been waiting for it and have been checking everyday, but i didnt get it until this reminder dues statement came with the late fees. i just told ms to charge my cc today so we wont have anymore problems. oh, ms also said that she will send me a copy of the original dues statement that they sent to me. and i should get the next dues statement the lat week of dec. and if i dont receive by the first week in jan. to call ms accounting. im glad that ms took care of it, but im disappointed that ms didnt sounded like she didnt believe me. oh, well it done and paid for ill just move on to better things!

we had signed our papers in early april, and we waited a long time to closing and when our guide found out that we didnt closed, i think our guide pushed our papers through, or dvc really messed up on recording our papers, thats all i know we closed, we had our cards a few days later the deed 2 weeks later, no due statement, if anything i would call ms accounting and find out if your dues statement was sent out and what day. it looks like dvc only gives about 2 weeks to pay your dues according to my dues statement. and as far as going home all you need is your dvc cards ( use them for free valet at any dvc home resort) and your discounts plus bring your confirmation letter just in case, but otherwise have a great trip home! leave us a trip report when you get back, would love to hear about your stay.
