Our kids did the zip line tour in Skagway. Which was loads of fun. I wouldn't bother with the parkas. Maybe a light fall type jacket. I brought hats and gloves and didn't use it. However, during Tracy Arm, it was a bit windy in the front area of the ship. We were at the back ( by the Beach Blanket Cafe ). This area was sorta sheltered from the wind. It's was actually very warm in this section. Plus, we planted ourselves at the outdoor tables and ate lunch there. This is also where the bbq was (deck 9).
Tracy Arm day was my favourite. Watching the scenery, glaciers and we saw mountain goats. Remember, to bring your binoculars because they are up there. Also, crew staff bring up a glacier for people to touch and see.
We travelled with my family. 17 of us. Make sure your download the
Disney Cruise line app prior to sailing. Once you get on, you'll be able to connect to wifi and use the chat feature. Wifi only good for use of the app. You can check out the activities, menus, character meets on it. Sure comes in handy to keep in touch with 17 people. It's worked well, no problems with delayed messages.
In Ketchikan, we went on the Mount Roberts tramway. That was sure worth it. We were lucky it was a nice, clear day. If not, we wouldn't of bothered. Nice to go up and hike around the area and take great pics. There is a free shuttle that drops you off in front of the Mount Roberts tramway entrance. Also, I heard from the crew, there is a free shuttle to the local
Walmart, which is about a 15-20 minutes away. The crew said they always go there because there is free wifi.
Speaking of wifi, in town, it wasn't easy to find free wifi. A few coffee shops might have it. On the ship however, they offered free wifi for the first day ( I think 50 mb).
