Just got off the phone with my guide -- BLT @ Contemporary Info

I believe the new AKV Kidani points could not be used elsewhere until 5/1/09, the date Kidani opens. So if BLT opens on 9/1/09, those points could not be used elsewhere until 9/1/09 (date of stay). If it was allowed, it would put more points in the DVC system than rooms available.

Regarding borrowing points, it is based on the use year on your date of stay. If your date of stay is in your 2009 use year, you can borrow 2010. There's no waiting for the use year to start.

Is the $112/pp cost already relfecting the $5 off per point? The math I'm doing tells me that $5 off would end up being around $107 pp for exisiting members not for the general public. I wonder what the chances are of getting developer points thrown in for the general public. We have a trip booked for Jan and would need developer points to cover that trip

Does the 100 pt minimum include first time buyers, or only current owners? My sis is interested in joining and would jump on this.

DisFlan

I don't know what the minimum will be for 1st time buyers. The information I was given was from my guide and geared as an add on since that is why I called him this morning.

I haven't kept up on DVC info over the past couple of months. I know they had previously made a lower entry level 100 pt buy in, but you could not buy in for 101-149. It was either 100 pts or 150+ pts. They could do something similar, but we'll have to wait and see the official sales literature.

Correct....$107 is the discounted price. I pulled the trigger at that price, so I hope that if I had waited I would be paying more. In other words, I hope the discounts are not better later. I'll be a little upset if that is the case.

Member dues are $3.67/pt.
Aren't dues pretty high???? Is there a chart some where that lists the dues for each resort?? thanks

I think right now I'd pay the full $112 pp cost if they'd give us developer points to cover our upcoming trip....then I'd use the $$ from our club level room and give it to DVC :rotfl:

I find it interesting that the initial dues for BLT will be less than the initial dues for BWV in 1996, VB in 1999, BCV in 2002, SSR in 2004, and AKV in 2007.

That is amazing, IMHO.

I agree. It's hard to believe that the dues will be under $4.00 the first year.

We are planning to add on 100 points, just trying to decide when to add on and where. This is tempting!

I called my guide and he expects this property to sell out within a year. As a comparison, Beach Club (I think he said Beach Club) is about the same size and took 2.5 years to sell out.

But if you need more points for one room, then the dues are just being spread out.
i.e. If a BWV 1BR is 20 points and has 5$ dues you are paying $100 dues for that room. If BLT 1BR would be 33 points and has $3.33 dues, you are still paying $100 in dues for that room, and no real savings. I'm not sure if anyone has done the real math, yet.

This is why the maintenance fees seem less then they are.

BLT Studio
10% Standard (Starts at 12 pts and goes up
20% Magic Kingdom Views (Studio 17pts and goes up)
70% Bay Lake Views (Starts at 15 and goes up)

For a comparison

SSR Studio

11 points

AKV Studio
value 8 points
standard 9 points
savanah 11 points
concierge 13 points

BCV/VWL
12 points

OKW
8 points

BWV
standard 9 points
preferred 12 points

BLT Studio
10% Standard (Starts at 12 pts and goes up
20% Magic Kingdom Views (Studio 17pts and goes up)
70% Bay Lake Views (Starts at 15 and goes up)

Where did you get that? That's a lot of points. Bay Lake Views are more points than Concierge at AKV? Eek.

I just ran some numbers for a 2 bedroom stay during Christmas at SSR, compared to BLT.....wow. Lake view was 33% more points, MK view was almost about 55% more

SSR 180 points
BLT 220 points standard view
BLT 244 points lake view
BLT 292 points MK view

Wow, I guess I am suprised that if you finance, payments will start so soon, members will not even be able to stay there until this time next year! I would think payments would not start until units are able for occupancy.

I do not believe that BLT will sell this fast. There will be two other properties at WDW and another at Disneyland within the next few months competing for sales. This glut in supply has to affect sales at all properties. Once the pent up demand has been satisfied for the "I will buy BLT no matter what" crowd, sales will slow down.

In addition to the other properties avaliable for sale, feedback on the decor today has been less then stellar, and the points requirements are the highest yet for any resort. I expect DVC will change the decor soon based on buyer feedback, but I do not expect the points requirements to change.

I don't know that DVC will change it if people are buying in like crazy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That said, if there were to be a point they would change their minds on decor, it would be now. But I don't think its likely to happen.

The decor at AKV changed quite a bit over the first few months of sales. Sales started in early Feb 2007. As of April 2007 they were still tweaking the furnishings in the model room. They changed the sofa, the dressers in both the 1BR and studio, the wardrobe, the dining table, chairs and bench, the side tables, some of the light fixtures, the bathroom tile and probably some other things I don't remember. It was quite interesting seeing the model rooms evolve as people would return from trips and post the latest photos.

I didn't realize they had done this. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info!
