Wanted to share with people who would understand that today we got our tickets and are soooo excited ! Leave on 7th August.

We went last year and obviously did our Esta's,didnt have a printer so havent got the forms but do have the numbers. I know they are valid for 2 years but does it matter if last year we put in the hotel, dates etc as obviously they will be different this year?

Thanks

Hi i am hoping you can you go on and change what you have entered because i have changed my date .

As far as I know, you are able to update the details in the ESTA. So, even though they are still valid, you should be able to update the hotel and visit dates.

As said you can update if you want, we don't, this will be our 4th trip since I did our ESTA's, no way am I updating them if I don't have to.

We got out Disney envelope end of last week(we leave 5th Aug), they also tried to deliver cruise docs on Monday but no-one in so asked them to re-deliver tomorrow (Thursday)

It takes two minutes, it's not exactly a massive inconvenience. :confused3 On our trip last month the immigration guy asked where we were staying - might have caused confusion if it didn't match up with the ESTA info. :confused3

Entirely upto the individual, I just don't see point with altering something that there is nothing wrong with and I know works. If they wanted it changing they would make it compulsory.

Updated ours to reflect where we are staying, only took about two minutes to do each one.

Out of interest, when you say you got your tickets, are these your Virgin tickets as we fly the day after you?

David

I have updated mine now, like you said took 2 mins .

Our tickets were from complete orlando, going with BA not virgin.

I went to do my APIs today and my sons name is spelt wrong so need to get CO to sort that out now, just glad I realised now with a couple of weeks to sort it out, its their mistake.

when asked for 1st nights stay you should update it as its different each time and airline different. you only knead to be pulled once for it to spoil your holiday

It can't possibly spoil the holiday as updating your info each visit is voluntary. From the US Customs & Border Patrol website:

We also ask that you give us travel information such as your flight number and destination address in the United States if you know it, and that you update that information each time you travel to the U.S., but it is not required.

When(if) they make it compulsory I will do it. until then I don't see the point.

Good to know! wont loose sleep over it in the future.

I've done our ESTA's and API's already, I have the numbers of the ESTA's but not printed anything out, should I have printed something? Is this going to be a major issue?

What are API's?? Have done ESTA's but nothing else!

API is Advance Passenger Information - we have completed ours in the 'Manage your booking' section on Virgin's website. Just asks you for your full names, dates of birth, passport details and where you are staying for your first night in America.

Contact your airline/travel agent to find out where you can complete yours

I don't think I've ever done these before! Is it anything to do with the forms you complete on the plane?

To be honest I have no idea, I've not been to the states since 2005, but I do remember reading somewhere they have replaced the 'white' forms? If you've booked through a TA they may have already done this for you if you have given them your parties dates of birth and passport numbers

They say you do not need to print anything but the odd family have turned up at immigration with nothing printed and the system not being able to find them, as long as you have your confirmation numbers you should be fine.

Who you flying with? Virgin you do your API online, some airlines it can't be done until you get to the airport. Only form you fill in on the plane now is the white customs form(one per family) ESTA has replaced the green Visa Waiver forms.
