I got an email a few days ago from Davidsbridal and they are having a sale for 4 days starting today... It said some dresses were $99 and then all others are $50-$200 off.. I have looked and looked on the internet, books, etc and cant decide because there are so many that I like.. When I got that email I figured Id go and just see whats there since it cant hurt anything.. The selection wasnt that big, but I found one I liked!! Normally $599 down to $99!! :cheer2: I may have to have it altered but I have almost 14 months before the wedding so I bought it and I figured as time gets closer I'll take it back with me and get altered if needed.. Im not normally cheap but we are paying for the wedding ourselves and I figured anywhere I can get some deals Im definitely going to.. At best if I change my mind Im out $99 and Im sure I could always resell.. but I really love it.. Just wanted to share my excitement..

Yes.. I will see if I can take a picture of it and will post it for you guys to see..

does David's Bridal have the dress on their website? you could just link us to the dress. I'd love to see it. I got my dress at Davids too. I cant' wait for it to come in :) Mine was only $50 off. Congrats on the amazing deal!

Congrats What a great deal!
I'm hoping to put my 40% off coupon to Joanns to Good use one I start making my dress

Congrats on your deal. I want to see the dress too!

A word of advise...don't take the dress back to David's to get it altered. I am sure you can find someone else that is professional and can do it much cheaper. I have heard nightmares about David's bridal overcharging for alterations.

I agree with Greengirl..............do not bring it to Davids for any alterations. Whe we were stationed in VA Beach, I worked in a family run bridal salon for about 4 years and we would constantly get Davids "screw ups". We had one girl in tears, sobbing as she was coming through the door saying that Davids messed up her dress at the final fitting, etc. and this was two days before her wedding. So, our seamstress (who is excellent btw) stayed at the store until about 1am that night fixing all of the issues. In the end the dress and girl looked gorgeous, but what a way to get to that point!!! So yes, do try and find someone on your own.

What is a normal price for alterations?

Lets see if this works...

woohoo it worked.. This is it!! I got this dress for $99.. Dont ask me how.. Its not coming up in their catalog, but I got the # off the dress and plugged it in their site and it pulled it up..

For a better view you can go on davidsbridal and its under T8021.. You can get a full view of the dress..

It varies, depending on the type of dress, amount of detail/lace/beading etc. For instance, to have a dress hemmed with a lot of lace around the bottom of the skirt if the dress is an a-line or emporer style, the seamstress would have to remove the lace, etc, hem the skirt and then replace all of the details, which would result in a higher amount to be charged, especially if there is a lot of bead work. But, if the dress had a defined waist the seamstress may choose to take it up from the waist, which all she would have to do would be to remove the waistband or seperate the skirt from the bodice and the charge should be cheaper. In our shop, we tried to keep everything under 200.00 which would include the hem, taking in anthing, fixing straps, the bustle, etc. A simple hem would be around 75.00. Then like anything else, any "extras" add up, ie. what kind of bustle you want, do you want sleeves added, or taken off, do you want your train cut shorter, etc. I hope this kind of helps. Let me know how you make out. :cheer2:

That dress is gorgeous! I bet they discontinued it. I love the beaded lace all around the bottom :thumbsup2

Thanks!! I figured they discontinued it too since its not in the catalog.. when I went there that morning there were only a select few sizes, so it was probably them trying to get rid of what they had left..

Gorgeous dress! What a great deal! You must be psyched!! You are going to look just like a princess!

That was the same dress I had picked out, in ivory. So beautiful! A month before the wedding I exchanged it for a different one...I think maybe I tried it on too many times, lol

were you able to exchange it for a different dress at Davids? They told me that I could only exchange for the same dress in a different color at the Davids I went to which makes me nervous as I had to order my dress in white without being able to try it on in that color.

I'm definitely going to listen to the warnings about getting my alterations done through them as well.
