We left out on Friday, April 18 to drive to Orlando from NC. It was the worst drive ever, normally it only takes us 8 hrs but this time it took 12 1/2 due to the construction on I-95. We finally arrived in Orlando at 7 pm Friday evening, we went and checked into the hotel and went out to eat and to see some sites.

Saturday we woke up early b/c we were going to start the day at Epcot and then take the Monorail over to the Magic Kingdom for the remainder of the day. Epcot wasn't that crowded so we got to see everything we wanted to see there, we ate lunch in Canada, which was pretty good. After lunch we went into some shops and looked for gifts, then we headed over to the Magic Kingdom at 2:30 pm. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom and it wasn't that crowded either. We didn't ride that much over there, but we did get to ride It's a Small World, Pirates of the Carribean, Jungle Cruise, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. We were just taking in all the scenery and decided not to try and ride everything. My dad was meeting us at 8 pm in front of the castle, so by the time we got off of the Pooh ride it was 7:30, so we went and got our seat for the Spectromagic Parade at 9 pm and so we could meet my dad. After the parade we left, even though the park was staying open until midnight, we ended up going out to dinner.

Sunday we got up and went to AK and it wasn't too crowded. We got to ride Kali River Rapids, Kilamanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, and It's Tough to Be a Bug 3-D. Then we walked around and did some shopping, we ate lunch at The Rainforest Cafe, great place, I go everytime. Then we watched the parade and then went to the last showing of the Festival of the Lion King. We left around 6:45 and went back to the hotel to rest up, then we went to Downtown Disney that night.

Monday we went to Seaworld, it was crowded, but it was our first time going and we had an excellent time. We got to watch ALL the shows, which we really enjoyed. At the Shamu Show they chose 2 males and 2 females to participate in the show and guess what, they chose me. I got to feed and pet Shamu, then they told me to stick my cheek to the front glass so Shamu could give me a kiss through the glass. It was neat!! The other girl got to feed and pet Shamu as well, but she got to give a signal for Shamu to dive to the bottom of the pool. The two men that were chosen did nothing but get splashed. It was fun. I realy enjoyed the Shamu show and the Dolphin show, although the Pets Ahoy and the Clyde and Seamore show were great also. Anyways, it took us the majority of the day just to see the shows and walk through most of the park, by 8 pm we decided to leave and go to dinner.

Tuesday we went to Magic Kingdom so we could try and ride more rides, BIG MISTAKE!!! MK was a madhouse that day, it was AWFUL!!! You could hardly walk it was so crowded, the lines for all the rides were long. We only got to ride 1 ride b/c we already planned to hop over to MGM for the remainder of the day. Anyways, my husband and I stood in line for 75 minutes just to ride Splash Mountain. We could've gotten a fast pass, but the times to come back were between 5:45 and 6:45, and we wouldn't be there anymore. Peter Pan's flight had an hour wait and that was at 3 pm, their fast pass was saying to come back between 9:05-10:05. Anyways, we left MK and took a bus over to MGM, on the way over there the bus broke down, luckily another bus stopped and picked everyone up. MGM was just as crowded so the only thing we did was the Muppet Vision show just to get out of the heat. We were planning on staying to go to the 8:30 Fantasmic show, but when we got over to the stadium at 7:15 they told us they only had standing room only. We ended up leaving the park and going to dinner.

Wednesday my husband and I decided not to go to any parks, so while my parents went to MGM we laid out by the pool and caught some rays. My parents got back to the hotel around 3 and we all left and went back to Seaworld that evening. It wasn't crowded at all. We got to finsih seeing everything there and saw some of the shows over again, this time we were able to ride Kraken and Journey to Atlantis, which we really enjoyed. We wanted to try and pet and feed the dolphins but they wouldn't come to us. Oh well, next time we're going to Discovery Cove so we can swim with them. This time we stayed until the park closed so we could see the Shamu Rocks America show.

Thursday we packed up and headed home. :( I'm already looking to go back sometime soon. Originally we had planned on going to the Universal Parks, but it just didn't happen this trip. Oh well, WE LOVE DISNEY!!!

First of all...Welcome to the Dis! :D I'm glad your trip was a great one. We never get to the other theme parks either. Cant get enough of Disney. :)

Glad you had a great trip - I know about trying to fit it all in - and welcome to the DIS

Thank you!! I've actually been reading this board for a long time, but didn't decide to register until yesterday.

I'm so ready to head back to Disney, time flies when you're there and before you know it you're already back home. I'm going to talk it over with my hubby and see if we can go back this fall or early next year.

We're leaving Friday from NC -- where did you run into construction delays on I95? Did you have the same delays coming home? I was hoping for an eight hour drive . . . .

Amanda

Actually once we got on I-95 it was a nightmare, stop and go, stop and go. It wasn't until we got past Jacksonville, Fl when it started getting really bad. All you will see from that point on are "Road Construction 1 mile ahead " signs on the road. It's like that all the way to Orlando. At one point they had a road contruction sign that said "road construction the next 35 miles". We ended up getting off I-95 and going the back way, which is why we got to Orlando when we did. If we would've stayed on 95 we probably wouldn't have arrived until midnight. What you can do it get a map once you get in Florida and you can take HWY 1 through St Augustine which will bypass alot of the traffic on I-95. If the traffic is bad get a map and go 1 and just follow it until it runs into I-4.

What part of NC are you from?

Thanks for the heads up on I-95. we are driving down 5/24 and we would love any info on road conditions. I may consider I-81 and 75 if any better.
sounds like you had a good time at WDW and Orlando.
