Just got back!

Seriously, I've been home an hour!
We stayed at SSR, Grandstand.
It was AWESOME!
(Of course, it was 80º, and I came home to SNOW)
Room was immaculate, pool was great, service was great.
We had a rental car, so I can't speak about the buses.
We had Room 8525. It was literally STEPS from the pool, and a VERY short walk to the main building.
Thanks for all the advice about the building choice - it was just right for me. Our patio looked out on the golf course.
This was my first trip to our home resort, and it really is beautiful.
I didn't do any parks this time (which is killing me) because I was there for a convention.
I didn't get to preview BLT either, because it is only open 5 - 9.
All in all, a good experience at the resort.

Glad to hear that you had a great stay! We've only stayed at SSR once and were placed in the Grandstand section in the building next to the pool (we had requested the Springs but didn't get it). Now I don't think I could request anything else but that area. Doesn't it stink to leave?

Too bad that you didn't get to "play" more but it sounds like it was a working vacation and 80 degrees is much better than snow anyday.

It was Grandstand. I had asked for advice here where to stay, and it was truly perfect for me.
I still love VWL, but SSR is very nice.

Glad to hear you enjoyed GRANDSTAND. We actually stayed there for the first time a week ago after staying in CP on several occasions. I had requested either CP or GRANDSTAND and I must say I actually enjoyed the change there in Grandstand.

We were right near the bus stop which was a great convenience. I also liked being within close walking distance of the main area as well as the boat dock to DTD. DD enjoyed trick or treating there this past trip!

I do recommend this location as well over the Springs. I do like CP because of the DTD views (if you get one) and within walking distance to DTD, but the Grandstand is just as good!

We're trying the VWL in Jan. for the first time! Stayed at WL many times but never at VWL. Any recommendations there?? I booked a studio.

We stayed in the same building as you a year ago and loved it.
That pool was more enjoyable then the main pool!

This thread is making me very happy. We will be at SSR on Dec. 8 for our first DVC trip and we're very excited. I requested Grandstand, but who knows? This will also be our first trip to WDW during the holidays.
To make things even sweeter I just found out that my DDIL has a conference at WDW the same week that we are there so I'll be able to see her and my DS who live in VA. Hooray!

I am so glad to hear great things, because I just booked SSR yesterday for our Jan trip! A 1-bedroom villa (thank you, 4/3 offer)! I had booked AKL (we've stayed there before) but something told me to try something new...

This is our first time trying a villa. My DH is so excited to have more space and privacy from the kids, and the kitchen will come in so handy (as will the washer/dryer).

The resort looks beautiful. I requested CP after looking at the map because I thought being within walking distance to DTD would be good for us. I figure being farther from the main pool will only assure us beautiful, warm swimming weather by virtue of Murphy's Law!

We were in Congress Park at Christmas last year. It is a bit far from the pool but we liked it. I love being there for the Holidays.
