Wow, was it hot and crowded!

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn, and it was PACKED, so packed in fact that we couldnt use the pool twice when we went down. (That pool is too small for that large hotel).

If you are going soon, take plenty of water and if heat gets to you, take those neck cooler things that you soak in water or those spray bottles with a fan. You can get the fan/bottles at walmart for $5.00. At DL they are $18.

We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific's yesterday and it was PACKED TOO!

What the heck?
Have I become that anti-social? :scared:

Most people don't go to those hotels fo the pools, just for convenience.

I dissagree. I think PLENTY of people go to those hotels to swim at rest time.

I tend to agree with you. A major factor in whether we will stay at a place, especially one within walking distance is the pool. Granted, Fairfield's pool is tiny, but at least it will be open the week we will be there.

I guess it could very well be. We generally go during off season when the parks aren't open so late and do not take breaks during the day, so we generally do not go swimming. Therefore, the pool is the least of our concerns.

Yuck. Hot weather is the worst. Personally, WDW and Disneyland are great....but I prefer to go in November, December, January, February.

:rotfl: Wow we must be the non-normal... We choose our hotel for our up-coming DL vacation based only on two things... number one the pool and hot tub and number two what type of breakfast they offered... oh and actually three things.. if they offered room service. We ended up choosing Embassy suites north. I know our kids will WANT to swim every single day. But again maybe it is just our family?

So how were those thrill rides that you were worried about?

If truth be told, many small children (single digiters) may prefer the pool to the theme park.

INDIANA JONES TRIED TO KILL ME!!!

Really, it scared the crap out of me!

Did I see the ball? HECK NO! My eyes were closed tight!!

I didnt even try any of the others.
I am the ultimate ride chicken. Just isnt my thing.
I could do Pirates over and over and be perfectly fine and dandy :)
cluck, cluck, cluck.

(hubby loved it though! Both kids take after me I guess... :rolleyes1 )

Don't worry! You're not alone! Now me? I LOVE every ride that's ever been put in front of me... BUT when I was in high school, our marching band went to Disney World for Magic Music Days... The day that we were in EPCOT one of my friends was afraid to go on the Maelstrom (the boat ride in Norway)... A bunch of us convinced her that it was going to be okay and that it was just that 'a boat ride' Well, as soon as the troll jumped up out of the water and the boat took its whole, 20 ft (MAYBE), track backwards... My friend was SCREAMING at the top of her lungs "YOU GUYS DIDN'T TELL ME THIS WAS A ROLLERCOASTER!!!!" :lmao: Now I can't even think of that ride without laughing at her... but she NEVER would have tried Indiana Jones... So you are very much NOT alone! :rotfl:

I just got back last night and was at DL on Saturday and Sunday. I got to the gates around 8am on Saturday and the crowds really werent bad until about 1130 or so, and boy did it get hot!! Sunday we were there for just a few hours but it definitely seemed cooler and the crowds seemed about the same! I hope it won't be that hot in June when we go on our family vacation.

teacups, fwiw.....Mrs. Hound also found Indy a little intense. But she didn't mind "the ball" as much as the rats that drop into the vehicle & nibble on your ankles. ;)

I heard they were having a heatwave there last week/weekend. That really sucks! I have been in the summer to DL and had the temps be very mild, and then there was the heat wave of Aug. '07 which we were right in the middle of! It was torture beyond compare! You are THERE and wanting to do all of the wonderful stuff you have been dreaming about, and the heat just beats you down.

And yes, the pools are a definite plus to us. We always stay at the Disneyland Hotel for that reason.:confused3

In the midst of those heatwaves, that sprayer fan is your best friend. I have mine all ready to go that we bought last August. Hopefully we will not hit our dates on a heatwave again, but if so--we will come prepared!

Welcome home:goodvibes

i can't believe it was crowded with all that heat! That is just nuts! I felt so bad for all the park visitors, i was dying in my un-airconditioned apartment!
