My family and I was so worried about the thugs and gangstas at USO and IOA that we stayed in our room at RPR for the whole 6 nights/5 days we were there. LOL! We had a blast and are already planning our next trip! To those who worry about thugs and gangstas at USO, don't, or better yet don't go. To those who want to have fun while using COMMOM SENSE and displaying respect and courtesy towards others despite how they look, go and have fun! We sure did!!!!!

glad you had a great trip! :cool1: How were the lines at USO? I'm going in 5 days and I only bought a fastpass for IOA

With FOTL passes, we were "on-board" for everything in less than 15 mintues. We actually rode Spiderman 6 times in one day (not in a row), Hulk 3times one day, Jurassic Park ride 3 times one day, the Mummy 4 times, Twister 2 times, Shrek 2 times, MIB 3 times, and the list goes on. Over the course of our trip, we were never rushed and rode what we wanted, when we wanted. The FOTL passes are the ONLY way to go. However, this past week, the parks never seemed to be very crowded to me at all. Several times, we did not even need our FOTL passes because the lines were so low. I'm sure that will be different this week (July 4th!), but we had an absolute blast!

GREAT! Now I gotta rethink my wardrobe for next month :confused3 ..I was plannin' on rollin' to tha UNI in my G-Unit gear :smokin: .... Now I guess I gotta get some Crocs & Tee's with snappy quotes!!!

Either way..WE CAN'T WAIT!

Glad to hear you had a great time! :thumbsup2

:wave2:

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a ball! :jumping1:

As I sit here enjoying my view of IOA from the Royal Pacific, I can't help but think that the whole gangsta thing has been worn out ;)

Glad you had a great time!

Can someone please explain to me about the "thugs and gangsters" at US and IOA? Is that an inside joke that I am unaware of? We have been there many times, and although there are more teens and young adults at Universal than at WDW or Sea World, they didn't look like gangsters and thugs to me.

Is this a joke, or is there really something my family should be aware of next time we go? The demographic of USO and IOA reminded me a lot of the demographic of Disneyland in Calif (seems like lots of locals, teens and an all around younger crowd).

There was a review recently in which the OP had nothing but bad things to say about the USO parks. Their description of the guests was "kids there (and completely unattentive parents) were completely out of control, rude, dirty and unpleasant." (their words) Apparently, the guests at USO are not good upstanding citizens like you would encounter at WDW. A few more WDW diehards chimed in on the "thug" factor. There was even comments from people who had never been to the parks & had no intention of going, because of what they "knew" the USO parks must be like. :sad2: To be honest, the entire thread was ludicrous. Some people just haven't let it go yet.

You have nothing to worry about at USO. We are fans of both USO & WDW, & I can say that the CMs/ TMs & guests at both resorts are pretty much the same. There's good & bad at both. Some people just seem to refuse to allow themselves enjoy anything that isn't Disney. :confused3 We'll be staying at HRH for 5 nights at the end of this month. I'm a very overprotective mother. If I thought my family would be in any danger, we wouldn't be going. Go & enjoy!!! USO is a great resort, just as WDW is. :sunny:

It's a joke, after people in their infinite attempts to try to bash Universal/IOA by claiming that nothing but thugs go to the parks.

Tarheel and ChrisFL, thanks for your responses. I was a little concerned after reading the post, but now I know the history behind it. Can't wait to get back to see the new fireworks show.

My apologies for poking a little fun at the ignorant posters who unjustly slammed US. I thought it was clear that my original post was tongue-in-cheek. Anyway, we had a blast and so will everyone who goes! The only thing anyone has to worry about is being diligent about wearing a hat and sunscreen - even on overcast days. I didn't wear either for two days and got some nasty sun poisoning.

I just wanted to reply to this as we just returned from our first Universal trip. We had been to Disney about 4-5 years ago. (See my report on the Trip Reports Boards for more detail.)

The Universal parks are great. We encountered nothing "shocking", no gangsters or thugs or anything else. Our family had a blast and would go again in a minute if time and money permitted. :cool1:

US and IOA is way better than Disney IMO. I can't believe someone say there are "ganstars" there. How about endless crying and annoying kids and countless hit on your leg by strollers?

Sorry folks! I apologize if it seemed that I over-reacted a bit to the original post, but I don't frequent the Universal boards very often and I truly did not know the history of the "gangsters and thugs" remarks. I guess I'm just overly protective of my family, and wanted to ensure that it was still a safe place to visit. Part of me thought it was an "inside joke" of some sort because of the clever way the post was written, but I wasn't 100% sure. Thank you all for your responses, and I'll see ya at Universal.
