I saw a few grad nite inquires on here and we did go to the parks on a grad nite day, Wednesday June 10. DL closed at 9PM and DCA closed at 6PM. There were a few school groups and not as many families that day. We saw the school groups behaving well, just crowding the aforementioned rides. We really wanted to ride the train and see primeval world, but were running out of time. We went to the main street train station at 8:50 and asked if they were still running. They told us that every night at closing, they have one train make a round trip around DL, stopping at each station to pick up anyone who does not wish to walk. You can't get off the train, however. This was perfect. At park closing, we boarded the train and took an awesome trip around DL at closing. It was very quiet and peaceful, except for us witnessing a few people being firmly escorted out of the park by security. It was a great trip and something that I didn't know about. When we left the park, there was already a line of grad nite goers waiting. The park wasn't anymore crowded than other days, the students are bussed in and supervised by the school. It was a full enough day for us, with a 3 year old and a 7 year old. We also walked around DCA at closing right after exiting TSM. I think the park is quite pretty in places.
Yes, for a total of $200. My son picked out this limited edition "Up" giftcard which the CM said can only be purchased at the parks. We had just seen the movie the night before and he enjoyed it. The money paid for 6 meals and some souveniers, so it went pretty far (don't forget about the AP discount at most restaurants).
Costco issues vouchers which you take to the ticket booth and exchange for a receipt. They also give you the gift cards. You then take the receipts to the bank on main street (to the right as you enter the tunnel) and get your AP. The process for us was quick. We were there on Saturday June 6 (a blockout day for the deluxe AP, but you can enter the park on the day of activation) and had no line for both the ticket booth and the bank. We also successfully park hopped to DCA later. The CM noticed that we were blocked out and we explained that we had just activated our APs. He actually apologized and ushered us in.
