Well, we returned today from our 3-day trip to Disney, the first time we've ever gone. Overall, it was a good time. The weather held out and was beautiful the first 2 days. Today was overcast and rainy, and actually started pouring down hard as we were walking back to the car.

Day 1 - We left Rotterdam around 4.30AM, arrived Paris around 11.00. My little one threw up the entire way, which wasn't fun. We couldn't get into our bungalow at Davy Crockett Ranch until 3, so we went to the Park for a while. I have to say, our initial impression was not good. The walk from the parking lot to the gate was so long, it was kind of irritating. We got in, and frankly were not impressed by the insane amount of shops everywhere. It was hard to find the attractions in between the stores! We went on Dumbo (1 hour 15 mins wait), the kids liked it. We also went on the Carrousel, which was fun, and the wait wasn't too long. We saw the Queen of Hearts, but little DD was scared by her mean face, so we didn't stick around to meet her. We kind of wandered around looking at things. I was stupid and forgot my youngest daughter's swimsuit, so we searched around for one for a while, and finally ended up at the Disneyland Hotel gift shop, where we got one. As we came in, a bunch of characters came out, so we got to see them. We went back to our bungalow and my husband fell asleep, he was so tired from driving. So in the evening we went to the little village area at the Ranch, and Mickey and Minnie were there dressed as Native Americans, and there was dancing and stuff. Very fun. We went to the pool, and it was AWFUL. It was freezing cold, the water was dirty, and the longer we were there the colder it got. The water was cold, and the air in the room was colder. Such a huge disappointment, we didn't go back during the rest of our stay.

Day 2 - We had a character breakfast at Plaza Gardens at 9AM. It was great, and I was glad because I was really starting to think we'd wasted a whole lot of money! We got to see Scrooge McDuck, Pinocchio, Gideon the cat, Tigger, Robin Hood, Goofy, Wendell the bear?, and maybe some others I can't remember right now. The food was really good, too. Then we went on Orbitron, they liked it, I didn't go on. My oldest DD chickened out on Space Mountain, and didn't go. Then we went over to Frontierland and went to Pocahontas village, then Phantom Manor. The wait wasn't too long, as the park wasn't very busy yet. That was pretty good, the part where you enter and go down the elevator is very well done. Then we went over and did Pirates of the Caribbean, there was only a 5 minute wait, it was totally empty in that area. LOVED it. We also waited in a huge line to meet the Princesses. We missed Aurora and Snow White, who were up there together. But we got to meet Belle, who more than made up for it. The woman playing her was gorgeous, and SO good with the kids. She walked over and took my shy little one by the hand and walked her back to the photo spot, and sat talking to her for a while, then took several pictures. She did her character really well, and the dress was amazing. My oldest loved her too, even at 11 years old, and got her picture made too. We had lunch/dinner at Auberge de Cendrillon. It was good, but I should have known better than to order a steak anywhere outside of the U.S. The kids and grandma went on the Teacups, and DH and I went over to pick up the photos with Belle. They turned out so good! Then we went and they did Star Tours, while I sat with little DD, who was zonked out in her stroller. When they were done we got a spot for the Princess parade. Talk about Fight Club, omg. People are SO rude, trying to push in front and steal places, or hurling their children on top of or in front of other people, pushing them to the front. The parade itself was amazing, we really enjoyed it. After that we went back to the bungalow and crashed.

Day 3 - Drizzling and overcast. We got to the park around 10, got Fast Passes for Peter Pan, and went straight to Pirates, which we went on twice in a row. We putzed around for a little while, then had lunch at Au Chalet de la Marionnette. It was ok, the burgers were cold, but tasted good. I personally like my food to be flaming hot, but whatcha gonna do? So we went to get on Peter Pan, and there was a huge long line for Fast Passes. It turns out someone left their bag on the ride, and they have to treat it just like an airport would, and shut everything down while they investigate it. So that put things behind and we waited a good 30-40 minutes. The ride was cool, but little DD couldn't see much since everything was below the carriages, and it was such a short ride. We got to the end and thought, was that it?! I would have been really angry if I'd wasted 2 hours in line for that. So then we looked around in Sleeping Beauty's castle, and saw the dragon in the cave again, and generally looked around and took pictures. Went to Emporium to get last gifts, and that was it. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.

We didn't go to the Studios because it didn't look all that interesting to me, and I didn't think the kids would like it as much as the regular park, so we spent our time there. Disney Village looked like just restaurants and more shopping, so we didn't go in there either. I wanted to go on Le Pays des Contes de Fees, but somehow I forgot and we didn't get over there.

So it was a good trip, but I don't know if we'll be going again. If we did, it would be at least 3 years, probably longer, due to the cost involved.

I should say something about Davy Crockett Ranch. We found the accomodation to be quite good. It was clean and well-appointed, and surprisingly spacious. The beds were good as well. Breakfast was more than adequate, although I need more than carbs to fuel me in the morning, so I had a couple slices of deli chicken on a croissant and was good to go.

I did think the step up to the door from the porch was a little high. The bbq looked like it hadn't been used in ages. But I don't imagine anyone would use it anyway without some sort of throwaway grate on top or foil or something. Around the cabin was all wild weeds, which didn't bother us. I thought the little village was really nice, and the store was better than most in the park!

It's really a shame that the pool was so horrendous though. Everything I read said that it was great, so we were really disappointed. I didn't like the layout of it either, half of it was too shallow to really do anything in, or even get around the whole thing easily. The hot tub part was nice, but half the jets weren't working, and the ones that were working were shooting out cold water!

Thanks for the report.
Shame about the pool at DCR since as you say everyone else praises it :)

Glad you enjoyed yourself overall but shame about the pool ~ I always think it looks the nicest of all the DLRP ones.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for sharing.
