Eventually got up out of the pit!
A few observations/reviews from our trip.
Some places where we ate -
Chefs de France (dinner)- nice place, very nice attentive server - DH and myself had the 'French menu' - French onion soup with cheese (large portion - couldn't finish it), chicken and creme brulee. DD had kids meal. Came to $100 including tip (I did have my DDE card though - this covered the tip at all sit down meals - get 20% off). A
Donalds Breakfastasaurus - a surprisingly good one as there has been very mixed reviews on these boards. We had a late sitting and the place was less than half full. Good choice of food - all hot and fresh, although they did remove the items pretty quickly to get ready for lunch - if we had wanted seconds, it would have been tough. One little niggle - presented my DDE card but then the server gave me my old bill back again without the 20% off. Didn't know if this was genuine or not - seemed a nice guy, so I'll give him benefit of the doubt. B+
CRT breakfast - booked a late seating on the first full morning of our stay - was an EMH morning when I booked, which would have given us 2 and a half hours on the attractions before breakfast, but Disney changed the day of EMH just before we went, so we had only one and a half hours instead. Breakfast was good as always but I think that this is a great one to get you in the mood on the first morning. B+
Crystal Palace (dinner) - this was our third time dining here (and the best!). Now my DD is 11 she has to pay full price - should be at all meals but she only had the kids meal at other restaurants for which they only charged the kids price. Buffets though we did get charged full price - here she ate 2 slices of pizza and 3 chicken legs (ie ate more than normal!). I didn't make the fatal mistake of stuffing myself this time and enjoyed it more - the salmon was fabulous! Oh and the Key Lime Pie (DH said it was the best thing he had eaten at a meal in WDW). Still took ages for the characters to get round though - waited for Pooh for some time after we had finished eating. A
Artist Point (dinner)- very quiet when we visited but the food and service were exceptional. We actually dressed up a bit for this one (still no straighteners though
) Had the salmon followed by the Berry Cobbler (can't remember what we had for starters). Not so posh not to be very kid friendly though - kids get to colour a picture of MIckey which they put up on the wall near the entrance and get a 'Certificate of Achievement'. A++
50's Prime Time (dinner) - Great theming - really good, fun server and not as wild as I'd imagined (did get the feeling he was holding back a bit with us though - maybe cos we're British?) I had the beef and DH had the meatloaf - portions were'nt quite so large as in other places (perhaps a good thing!) Would go back. B+
Whispering Canyon (dinner) - Only DH and myself went this time - DD wasn't keen last time and wanted to go in the kids club instead (which she loved). I had the chicken (again) and DH had meatloaf (again). As we were only a couple, server left us alone really (slightly disappointed). B
Did book one or two other AR's - had problems with my stomach and couldn't go unfortunately - will have to go to San Angel, Cape May (breakfast) and 'Ohanas breakfast next time. The reason we do 'Ohanas was because we had got over to the Poly and saw a huge tour group ready to go in at the same time so we turned tail and went straight to MK instead. It was our last morning and these large tour groups had been a bit of an issue all holiday.
We also ate at several counter service restaurants - Staring Rolls (ate there 3 times - fantastic sandwiches), Columbia Harbour House, Tangierine Cafe, chippy in UK at Epcot, Flame Tree, Pizzafari, Pinocchio Village Haus, Typhoon Tillys and POP food court. If you need a lowdown on any of these please ask.
