Well we just got back from a quick weekend trip, After reading all the posts on how great HIFS were I cancelled reservations we had for somewhere else and paid a whopping $169. plus tax for a Kidsuite at HIFS...Well I was VERY dissappointed, after checking in we went to our room, well house keeping must have skipped our room, there were used cups on the counter and trash filled our trash can...cob webs in almost every corner..although there are three rooms, I would never suggest this hotel for families with young teens, as the beds are very small, and when the couch is unfolded there is NO room left !! Breakfast our first day was another dissapointment, the eggs were runny and tasted funny, the fruit was not even ripe, and the sausage, well I'm not sure what it was really, it looked like sausage! The next moring was a little better, we skipped the eggs, but there was bacon, and oatmeal, and other cold cereals..all in all I wouldn't waste my money on this hotel again..I plan to write them and let them know how dissapointed I was.

If a cow laughed, would milk come out her nose ?

Curious as to why you chose a kidsuite with bunkbeds, when they have a classic suite with 2 bedrooms. Sorry to hear your breakfast was a disappointment. Our room was spotless and my kids are chomping st the bit for next month when we return. I can see where teens might not have as much fun as the younger kids though, my kids had a blast at bingo and kareoke.

I agree with you. We stayed there One year ago Jan and were disappointed. We had one housekeeping problem after another. Smoke alarms blaring at 3 am for no reason etc. While my then 7 year old loved the kidsuite we were so cramped. We took our older daughter and her friend who shared the hide-a-bed and we were crawling over them to get around. I felt it was extremely cramped and next time will go with the Embassy or Caribe. I've never stayed in either but hear they are very nice.

We really liked HIFS but I think I would have liked it a lot less if I'd paid $169 - that's kind of high. There must have been a housekeeping mix-up - ick. Sorry for your disappointing experience.

We had a great experiencein Dec, but our kids are the younger set, 4 and 5. Our housekeeping was fabulous. But I have heard of other people too who have had icky experiences at HIFS. And I am sure if you did a search, you would find at least one person who doesn't like any hotel that has been discussed on this board. We all look for perfection, where nobody has a problem, but it doesn't happen...even with the Disney Resorts. Good luck next time around where ever you stay!

We just returned from HIFS in a classic two bedroom suite...and I probably wouldn't stay here again on an adults-only vacation. However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommmend this hotel to families with children.

HIFS is so close to the parks. The breakfast was extrememly convient and had a wide variety of selections. Our only real complaint with our entire experience at HIFS was that the eggs were inedible (and all five of us thought this). The pool areas were very nice....though the lap pool was closed one night due to "problems". We had no difficulties with housekeeping. When we arrived the curtain hanger to the second bedroom was coming off the wall. I called maintenance and it was fixed by the time we returned from the park that day. This resort is a huge step-up from your traditional family hotel.

Out of the TONS of posts on this board re:HIFS, only a SMALL fraction are negative -- I agree that at ANY hotel there will be people that were dissatisfied. NO place has a 100% satisfaction rate. We were there in September and really loved it. It was perfect for our family of 5 (11 y/o, 3-1/2 y/o and 1-1/2 y/o children). We were at Port Orleans two years prior to that and even with only 4 of us at that time, we felt cramped. I do not like having to 'hang out' in the bedroom when we're in the room. I much prefer having the separate bedrooms and living room space. The pool at HIFS is perfect for younger children because of the zero depth entry -- my little ones were able to play in the water without having to be held. My older daughter loved the pool, also. We ate breakfast there 6 mornings and never was disappointed!!! I thought it was wonderful. We are not a family that are used to crummy places and thought this was nice just because it was a step up -- we prefer to pay more money and get nicer accommodations and still felt HIFS was great, plus a great value

We were also there this weekend and loved it!?!

It was just three of us (me, DH and DD 21 months). We had no problem with housekeeping, loved the pool area, breakfast was fine (large variety) and my daughter loved the train ride each morning, the playground and balloons each night! I thought both the grounds and our room were very clean.

I also question the rate you paid. We were there over the same period and only booked a couple of weeks ago for $111.00 for a kids suite. Did you check around?

We were there in November '99, and had one problem after another...never again.

Housekeeping issues aside, how did you find the space in HIFS as compared to that in a average hotel room. Is it more comfortable at HIFS?

I can hardly believe this. I read this board for over a month trying to decide just where to stay. I did not see one bad thing, only good, about HIFS. So yesterday I booked with an internet booking company and paid in full. Now I am very concerned I have made a huge mistake. This was more money then we have every spent on staying in Florida $134.00 per night but I convinced my husband that it would be worth it, that everyone was raving about how terrific it was. Please reassure me I have not made a mistake.

We stayed at HIFS in Dec. My kids had a great time there. I had trouble sleeping at night due to the hollow walls (it didn't help that the people would come back from wherever they were at 2 a.m. or later and make noise), but I probably would stay there again because there is so much for the kids to do there. Oh, and our room was very clean.

Your post has me concerned. (Especially checking into the room with other people's stuff in it! - cups, etc) How did they respond when you told them? Offer you another room, send housekeeping up immediately, say "too bad", or what?

Just returned to New York this afternoon and have nothing but good things for HIFS and their Housekeeping. I have 3 kids - 5 1/2, 4, 13 months. The baby got a stomach virus and not to be gross but was throwing up for 24 hours they came twice with fresh towels & cleaned the room fine. We even had a problem with the toilet not flushing very well when we got there maintenance came within 20 minutes and fixed. My kids loved the pool and play area by the kiddie pool. Only complaint would be one of the whirlpools by the lap pool was not very warm - we love it stayed 3 nights in kid suite and only paid $129/night.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. We thought the rooms were plenty big for us.

I think the fact that you said until now you've read nothing but great things about HIFS should be proof enough you've made a good choice. Like I said, EVERY SINGLE HOTEL will have some people that either had problems or were dissatisfied. We loved and and did not find ONE thing to complain about. It was perfect for our family of five. The pool is great, especially for younger kids (but by no means is it a 'little kids' pool). DON'T WORRY -- I'm sure you'll love it!

We stayed there last April and loved it. We are going back this April. All the activities for the kids are great, not a gourmet breakfast, but still good, hot and free. We had nothing but a complete positive experience from check in to housekeeping to eating. Go and have fun.

If you check into a hotel and your room has not been cleaned, turn around and go back to the front desk. Obviously, a mistake has been made.

This has happened to me at 5-star hotels. It is unreasonable to expect that human error can be completely eliminated from the process of cleaning a 700-room hotel.

Hockey mom, I noticed in your post that you too live in Peterborough. It is such a coincidence to see somebody who lives in the same city posting on a board that originates in Orlando. With four boys I to am a hockey mom. You said you had a great time at HIFS so I have to believe that everything will be fine. Thanks for the input.
