Hi there,

My husband and I just got back from a fabulous vacation at the YC. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott on 9/28&9/29, then transfered to the YC on 9/30-10/7. The YC is gorgeous! Our room was 1036, 1st floor, looking out towards the private pool and easy access to the laundry room. Perfect vacation. We didn't have to wait in lines for ANY rides which blew me away, the only problem was the weather. HOT, HOT, HOT....whew! Any questions? Let me know. We loved the YC so much we plan to go back in 2004/2005.:p :bounce:

Welcome home! Did you notice any rehab/construction while you were at the YC? Thanks!

Yes, they are still refurbishing. The original room, that they booked us in was, on the 2nd floor still had not been refurbished, so I did ask to be moved. They moved us to room 1036 which has been remodeled and is gorgeous. I noticed that Strom-along-Bay had a small section blocked off due to construction, but that was closer to the Beach Club side. We had a wonderful time and the entire staff did a magnificent job in making our vacation magical.

monte,
The YC is our favorite resort, so it doesn't surprise me that you had a wonderful time! I'm going to assume that the 2nd floor hasn't been remodeled yet, but that the 1st floor has, based on your post. So I think now that the 5th, 3rd, and 1st are renovated.

Could you tell what was being worked on at SAB pool? Just curious as to what they might be doing!:teeth:

We will be staying at the Yacht Club over Thanksgiving. Does anyone know if all of the rehab. will be completed by then so I don't have to worry about which floor I get?

Cindala,

From what I could tell I don't think that they're doing anything to SAB. I believe that they are working on the section of the YC, near Beaches and Cream and they've closed the entrance to the smaller jacuzzi to prevent debris from falling in. All other sections of SAB are open, so it was no big deal.

We love the YC! Hubby and I toured several other resorts and they are beautiful in their own rights, but we love the location of the YC. I enjoyed the walks back from Epcot and walking barefoot on the beach. One evening we rode bikes at the Boardwalk and ended up racing a family of eight. We beat them on the hills, but they creamed us on the straight paths. Hey 8 against 2 wasn't fair, but we had a blast.

I love the decor of the YC and the nautical theming throughout the resort. Infact I love it so much I was able to speak w/the interior decorator and made arrangements to purchase one of the Mickey desk lamps that are in the rooms.

We're making plans to return to the YC in 2004, or 2005. We were on the deluxe plan and found that to be the easiest way for us to go, so we'll be doing a plan again. Next time we plan to do more of the recreational activities such as parasailing (we loved that), miniture golf, spending more time at the water parks, etc.. I was able to fly along side a bald eagle while parasailing and it is a experience that I will never forget.

Yacht Club here we come! lol:Pinkbounc

KFISCHER,

I don't know how relevant it would be now, but my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Yachtsman back in '98. We received complimentary champagne/wine with our meal due to the fact that it was our honeymoon.

The service was great and our waitress was terrific. The food was excellent, but as expected pricey. We both had steaks, and I ordered the sauteed mushrooms. Very good.

Anyone else have something more current??

Our family just LOVES the Yacht Club! :) For our last trip we tried the Polynesian. While we really liked that resort, we missed the YC area! At night we enjoy walking around the Boardwalk area. And it's so nice to walk or take the ferry to EPCOT (our favorite park) or MGM.

Glad you had a good time!

Jill...who is counting the days...

We had breakfast at the Yachtman's steakhouse, but not dinner. We ate at Biegarden, Brown Derby, Cape May, Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose, Flying Fish, Big River Grille, Liberty Tavern, Boma's, Kona Cafe, we had reservations for California Grille & Narcossee's(sp?), but had to cancel the last two. I know, I know they were probably the best restaurants but we just had too much going on. All restaurants were good, but our favorites were Brown Derby, Flying Fish and I liked Hollywood & Vine. As I said we plan to go back in 2004/2005 and try others.

We toured the Animal Kingdom lodge and thought that was really neat, but we still prefer the YC. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

:)
