Just got back from seeing "Alice in Wonderland"

Overall I was really disappointed with the movie. I liked Johnny Depp and that was about it. As a whole I thought the movie was depressing and did not come out with a good feeling about it.

all i have to say is I LOVED it!
and i will def be going back to watch once more!

We went on Sunday on see it in 2-D. I didn't notice much that would make me want to see it in 3-D. I thought it was fine just the way it was for us.

My 3 DD's and I loved the movie but DH just deemed it weird. :rotfl: He has no imagination. DD6 already has discussed dressing up as the Hatter for Halloween, she has a slight crush on JD.

I personally found the White Queen to be a flake. She annoyed me in the movie.

I went with my cousin last night and while I loved it I do not think she did. She is not a Tim Burton fan and thought (even though I warned her) that it was just going to be a live action version of the animated film.

I however loved it. It was slow at times but wonderfully done. Depp was fantastic.

that's the same reason i didn't go see Avatar. i had heard that the movie was kind of predictable, and nothing that "amazing" but the visual effects were pretty good with the 3D...but still it was just more of a "vivid colors" thing.

I think AVATAR also adds a layer of depth in the image, not so much things coming at you, but layers to the movie, it felt more immersive, not just with the color (color could have been just a benefit of Digital) but with the scene, it felt like a "pop-up storybook" so to speak.

We saw both Avatar and Alice in IMAX 3D, I agree that the 3D effects were drastically different between the two, Avatar felt more like you literally were flying in that world. Alice felt more like traditional 3D to me, but at least for us I thought there were a number of "fly out of the screen" scenes, including pretty much every scene with the March Hare, but also when Tweedledee and Tweedledum were being carried over the brambles, for example. We really loved this movie. I'll be honest and say I never really like the cartoon original Alice much, we own it as we own almost every Disney movie, lol, but I always found it chaotic and also thought the hatter was rather a frightening character before. Johnny's hatter is so believable and such a sympathetic character; it was his role that really made the film to me. I do agree that the White Queen character was a little odd here, we love Anne Hathaway, so I don't THINK it was her so much as the way the character was written.
