Well, we just got back from 9 days 8 nights at POR and I must say I have a favorite resort! This place was superb, and I mean it !

We were in the mansions, Partiere Place, bottom floor, corner room (2 windows). Housekeeping was great, the room was just renovated and was really lovely, the walk to the bus was about 7 minutes strolling, the quiet pool was about 5 minutes strolling, and the big pool was about 10 minutes strolling. The grounds were immaculate and very pretty.::yes::

I always heard about people having a favorite resort on these boards and we have stayed at several, but up to now none really grabbed me (except for the Swan:teeth: )BUT now, I too have a favorite and it is most definately POR. Any questions pleas ask, I will be happy to answer...

Are there refrigerators in the rooms yet? How was the food court? crowded? food?

Thanks, MKY princess:

Yes, there was a fridge in the room in a great little framed chest, so it didn't even look like a fridge:p . The food court was great, never packed, and the food was reasonably good. We tried the roasted chicken dinner and it was VERY tasty, we had some steak sandwiches, pasta, and desserts that were just fine, typical counter food and very reasonably priced::yes:: ...

DITTO! We just got back from 8 nights at POR in a corner room in Parterre Place. We fell in love with it too! Can't wait to go back!

Do you think this resort would be a good pick for a Honeymoon??? Thanks :)

Oh I think a honeymoon here would be lovely. See if they have a king bed that would be ideal instead of the 2 doubles. I saw several honeymooners while we were there, the mouse veil gave it away;) . They even have a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort in the evenings and the direct boat to Downtown Disney was really nice too!

I mean I can't speak for who you are or your prefrences, but I really must say this was a very lovely resort::yes::

from mousesavers.com:

Port Orleans - Riverside is another Moderate with extra value to offer. It features probably the most lush and stunning landscaping of any of the Moderates, with many meandering walking paths. It also offers carriage rides, bike rentals, a marina with watercraft rentals, and boat service to Downtown Disney. Many people consider it the most romantic of the Moderates and it is a favorite with honeymooners.

There are two sections with radically different styles at Port Orleans - Riverside; you can request a specific section when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.

Alligator Bayou is rustic, with log furniture and patchwork bedspreads. The most convenient buildings to the main services and pool are Building 14, closely followed by Buildings 18 and 27, all in Alligator Bayou.
The Magnolia Bend buildings are reminiscent of a plantation home on the exterior, with floral/feminine decor in the rooms. Buildings 90 and 95 in Magnolia Bend are just across a bridge from the building containing the restaurant, marina and other services.

We just recently returned from our 1st stay at a Disney resort. We stayed at Coronado Springs and absolutley loved it. ( I checked, but they have no availability there for our dates in May) So I started thinking about POR as an alternative. Thank you Emme for your input. :)

We did not ask for one, it was already in the room and everyone we spoke with in the mansion sections said they had one...

We are just about to book PO for August, 2005, but we keep changing our minds. Did you visit the FQ ? If so how does it compare to the Riverside ? We have 2 daughters aged 6 and 9 who both love swimming. Which of the resorts is most child friendly? Would appreciate your help.

EvertonCJ,
We stayed at POR in sept and everyone loved it, including DD 2 and DS 7. The pool area is fantastic. I find that you get a very warm feeling from this resort. There is a big play area beside pool as well. Quite pools were also very empty when we were there.
We visited french quarter and although the pool has a great theme we still enjoyed the riverside much more. DS just agreed with me on this subject.
We stayed in AB and the trundle bed came in very handy because the kids didn't have to sleep together which is sometimes a good thing after a long and tiring day.
I'm sure which ever section u stay in u will love it.

I agree with Emmy and hannahryan this resort is wonderful. I wish we would have stayed there on our honeymoon!!::MinnieMo

We also stayed there last month, Parterre Place, 2nd floor, corner room! Loved it, I felt like in a Deluxe hotel! I can't wait to go back there! The mansions seemed perfect for Honeymooners or adults with no kids, they where really quiet and our building was really close to the bridge and the main building. :D

Oh no ! Everyone is falling in love with my favorite resort.....hope I can get space at POR - AB next time I go. Wouldn't stay anywhere else (except maybe FW). Have stayed at others before but POR is our family fav for sure.....feels like going home to building 24. (same building 4 times so far !)
