Just got back from OKW

My family had our first DVC stay this past weekend when we decided not to sell back all of our points in MB and instead did a last minute reservation in a Grand Villa in OKW so that we could have a mini-family reunion with my sister and her family and a brother-in-law.

All I can say is WOW! the GV was absolutely HUGE and nobody in my family could believe that we were able to get accomodations like that (they're very frugal people and our original plans were to stay in adjoining rooms at Port Orleans Riverside--they were amazed). What a difference this made in our trip... fully equipped with everything you'd need (even a beer funnel from a previous group--which we didn't use, of course, but we thought it was funny that housekeeping missed it nonetheless). Having 4 bathrooms and plenty of room to spread out to relax made such a difference for our group of 10. Normally I end up leaving Disney a bit stressed because of the tight accomodations, but not this time--we all wish we were back there and are already trying to figure out when to go next year where we'll go home to VWL! We're so glad we took the plunge and bought into DVC!

We have brought my side and DH sides family to WDW and have stayed in the OKW Grand Villas with almost all of them one time or another. It is funny whenever we go on our own as they think we are always in HUGH villas like the GV even though we have explained the one bedroom to everyone their thoughts are that we are back at WDW in those beautiful condo's. We wish we could stay each and every time in the GV but with 3 to 4 visits a year, once is better than even I had imagined when we first bought. My SIL took all kinds of pictures and actually wants to design her retirement home after the GV. She really thought it was just perfect! We enjoy the one bedrooms alot too, but of c0ourse continie to look forward to thiis Thanksgiving when we get to share a GV with family once again.

OKW is magical and the size of the rooms really does spoil you. We just got abck from a 2-bedroom and my parents were SO impressed. On the day we went to visit the BCV model, my Dad said "The room is so small!" I thought this was so funny because the CM in the model just looked at him so weird -- I said "Well we are staying at OKW!" You get used to all that room really fast... We are going back in June and I just can't wait!
