This is my first trip reprt, so be gentle with any criticism.
Hi, I just got back from 6 wonderful days at WDW. Sept. 3 - Sept 8. I had a blast and can't wait until I get to go back. My flight left Little Rock, AR at 1008 AM on Monday and I was checked into POP! and through the gates at Disney-MGM by 330 PM. I wandered around a bit and had a great time just looking around and taking in the scenery. I made my Dinner ADR at Brown Derby at 510 PM and had the Cremini mushroom Tortellini, Seared Ahi Tuna, and Flourless chocolate cake for desert. The meal was wonderful and definitely something someone should try at least once. After dinner I had approximately 2 hrs before Fantasmic! so I went and rode Star Tours, and bought a few souvenirs, luv the Donald as Han Solo. Fantasmic! was everything I thought it would be and more. After Fantasmic! I ventured over to The Hollywood Tower of Terror. Oh man, it was AWESOME!! So much so, that as soon as I got off I practically ran to get back to do it again (I ended up riding it many times during my week.) I was going to ride R-N-R Coaster, but I have issues with going upside down, so I chickened out; plus this gives me something to do next time
. I decided to call it a night and headed back to POP!
Tuesday AM, I got up and was goign to hit the Magic Kingdom, but the bus to EPCOT was at the hotel, and the MK bus had just left. I went to Epcot, grabbed a fastpass for Soarin', and I had lunch at the Sunshine seasons. The half chicken was excellent. After lunch I still had a bit of time to kill prior to fast pass, so I went on the Living with the Land tour. That was fairly interesting, especially the Mickey pumpkins. Upon completing the LwtL ride, I went on Soarin'. Oh man it was another wonderful experience and it became one of my must do attractions (Rode it 5 times during my week). After Soarin', I went to the Figment and explored the world showcase. Maelstrom was fun. Upon exiting the park, I decided to give Test Track a whirl (woo-hoo) glad I did. Went to Concourse for dinner (The fillet was like butter; fork tender, yummo. The Blutini's were not to shabby either. I got a sudden urge that I had to see the Wishes show, so off to MK. I had a little bit of time before the show, so Space Mountain was calling me. I couldn't resist. Space Mountain did have some technical difficulties as i was waiting online, but the queue kept me entertained for a bit. After Space Mountain, I headed out to watch the Show. The part with Tink was a nice touch. I made my way back to my room for the night to rest up for Animal Kingdom.
Wednesday I got up and headed to Animal Kingdom for Donald's Breakfastasaurus. The character interaction was great, Pluto apparently heard me refer to him as a frisky dingo; ashe turned to me, raised his left ear, and gave me a thumbs up. After breakfast it was time for the Safari. This was the first time I had to wait longer than 5 minutes (other than for technical difficulties), the wait was 25 minutes or so, but still not so bad. After the safari I headed to the hotel to freshen up a bit and headed back to MK. I was able to wlak right into Mickey's Philharmagic
, after that I hit Stitch;s Great Escape, then ventured onto PoTC and got stuck not once but twice on the same trip thru. I commented that it could be worse; we could've been stick on It's a Small World, which brought some laughter from my boat mates. After PoTC, i ventured thru Frontierland and was able to catch one of the midday parades.
By this time, my ADR for Boma was coming up, so I ventured over to the AK lodge and had dinner. The Carrot Ginger soup is great, but everything else was so-so. After dinner, I returned to the MK for Spectromagic, along the way I decided my day wouldn't be complete until I rode Big Thunder Mountain RR. Whee
I went back to POP! after Spectromagic.
Thursday was split between MK, MGM, and Animal Kingdom with several rides on Tower of Terror of course. While at Animal Kingdom, I couldn't resist the call of the Yeti, so I tackled Everest
but also
It was Awesome as expected.
Friday Am, I had ADR's for the Princess Breakfast at Akershus. A friend's daughter is really into princesses so uncle Larry had to dine with them and get pictures. Of course, while at EPCOT, I rode Soarin' yet again. I headed back to AK and visited my Yeti friend again. I had lunch at LeCellier, yummo yummo. After lunch I headed back to MGM to continue my unnoficial hunt for Drake Mallard, AKA Darkwing Duck and ride ToT. Alas, he was not to be found, but I did find the Queen from Snow White
. I headed back to POP! to freshen up before dinner, then went to EPCOT. Of course, upon entering the park I headed straight to Soarin'. After Soarin' I found myself wandering about the park, and saw that there were only 2 people online at the character spot so I figured I'd pause for a bit and get some pics; Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, and STITCH!!!
After this I had dinner at Yorkshire County Fish Shop featuring Harry Ramsden's. Yum! I went around the world and on my way out hit Test Track again. The ride was experiencing Technical Difficulties, but I only had to wait 15-20 minutes so it was worth the wait. I went to POP! and packed for my sad
trip home.
Saturday I was goign to hit MK for the opening, but the MGM resort is closer to POP! and the line for the MGM bus was shorter so off to MGM and ToT. While there I was able to get a few pics of Daisy, but still no Darkwing
I pickled up a few final souvenirs fo rmy freinds and family adn went back to POP! to wait for ME to take me to the airport.
All in all, it was a great trip. Crowds were extremely light, the food was extremely tasty, and of course the parks were extremeley magical
I'll definitely be going back as I've become addicted to pins now and will get the elusive Darkwing caught on film, or digital media, whatever the case may be.
peace out,
Larry
