Just got back from Hilton Head

Was it easy to book HH with DVC points?

It is difficult for June(late), July and first half of August , but there are more 2 bedrooms so you have a better chance if thats what you want. We love HHI resort and have spend many xmas/new years weeks there and sometimes just do an overnight on our drive back from WDW to MA. We added on in 2002 just to get 11 month window for summer and have enjoyed 4 summers there since and will be returning June 2009. Its our relaxing dvc vacation-love the beach and the whole atmosphere of the resort.

I'd add that the first of June is tough also. Tried to book the first week of June at the seven month mark and could only get a Saturday night using points.
One of the main reasons I added HHI points.

I know this may sound sort of backwards to a lot of you but HHI is the reason we bought into DVC. It wasn't for WDW (which we love) but it was our relaxing yearly vacations in HHI.

This is our first year in 10 years as members that we will not be going to HHI. Here it is September and I don't think a month has gone by that I didn't whine a little bit about it to DH.

We are planning our next trip to HHI for September (Labor Day timeframe) of 2009 and I can't wait. I LOVE LOVE LOVE, did I say LOVE HHI!!!!!!

:cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2:

Hi all,

Glad to hear all the GREAT comments about HH!!

My DH and I have been trying like crazy to get in there for summer using our 7month window with SS points and have had NO luck.
So we decided to add HH thru the Timeshare store.
We found a FANTASTIC deal and just heard tonight that Disney waived their ROFR, so we're moving forward with the closing date!!
I am "chomping at the bit" to close this deal so I can FINALLY make our ressies for summer 09.

Just praying everyone stays safe during this hurricane season.

Hugs to all!
Tricia

What is there to do at HH? And has anyone been to VB? What is there to do there? It is hard to wrap my head around the idea of a DVC not centered around WDW.

It took us about 21hrs last February. Left around 8pm Friday and had dinner in Orlando at about 5pm on Saturday.

Straight through with a 3 1/2yo and a 1 1/2 yo :scared: Not the best idea!

Jim

Yeah. We have an almost 3 year old and a 5 1/2 year old...so we're really on the fence about attempting the drive.

HHI resort is a relaxing beach vacation. The resort is on Shelter Cove harbor and has marsh views and views of the harbor. It has beautiful accomodations, very spacious with large porches, two resort pools(one at the beach house), beach house (about a mile from resort) that you can drive, bike to or take the resort shuttle that has a bar, quick serve restaurant, A/Ced room with games and TV, another pool, arcade, and access to the huge beach..you can ride bikes on this 6 mile stretch of beach. The resort has many daily activities for adults and kids including summer BBQs and games. The main lodge has a room with pool table and board games and TV also. HHI itself has lots of great restaurants, shopping (nice ones right at shelter cove that you can walk to)and other activities..or you can do nothing but be a beach bumb. Savannah and Beaufort Ga are a good day trip. We cook in the villas much more that when at WDW, but also have our favorite restaurants that we never miss. We have gone there during xmas week many times (including NYE) and then added points to get 11 month window for summer. We try to do HHI and WDW each year. They are completely different and we love them both.

I was wondering if everything at the resort is open all year round now. We were there in October a few years ago and the beach side of HHI was dead. Not a cast member in sight any of the days we were there. We're thinking about trying another visit around the same time and thought some of you who've gone in the fall the last three years could answer that question.

the restaurant and bar at the beach house has not been open during xmas week, but the beach house is open to get to the pool and beach(we love walking the beach at any time of year). Otherwise, the resort has activities and the pool are open( as is the takeout place at the resort). when my niece was there for her honeymoon in Oct. (we gave them the trip as a gift), they loved that time of year and said they swan in the ocean everyday and want to return for an anniversay some day at the same time.

Any casual restaurants that anybody can recommend? My wife and I are doing our first trip to Disney HHI Saturday (4 nights)

San Miguels (Mexican) right across bridge at marina area, Kingfisher right across bridge on left (love their Shrimp and Grits), Salty Dog and Wreck of Salty Dog are my favorites.

I just finished a very detailed TR on HHIR with lots of photos- there's a link in my sig-:)

Love San Miguels! Lots of fun to sit outside and listen to the guy playing guitar and eat.
We also like Hudson's and the Sea Shack.
San Miguels is only a 4 minute walk or bike ride, it is just over the bridge that connects DHHIR to Shelter Cove shopping center. Have a great time!!:)
