Hi there :wave2:

We've just got back from California, where we spent 2 days at Disney.

What a disapointment, we were so looking forward to visiting the "original" Disney park but felt it lacked the magic of WDW.

It seemed like any other (non Disney) theme park we'd visited and that they were only out for our $$$.

Don't get me wrong, i'm glad we went, we enjoyed it but we won't be rushing back.

Sorry if we've offended anyone

:thumbsup2

Each park has its pros and cons. Disneyland is a more intimate, compact park, where WDW is endless space. Each park has good and bad attractions. It's just WDW has some of the worst Disney attractions ever to befoul the earth, namely Ellen's Energy Adventure and The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid.

Seriously?!? Disneyland is a great resort. I love WDW and everything it contains. With that said, when I stay at a Disneyland resort, I really enjoy just being able to walk to my room, as opposed to "the magic" of waiting for your bus to arrive.

I'm sorry you weren't enchanted by the original Magic Kingdom - the one that started it all - the one that if it weren't there - no other Disney park would even exist... you didn't offend me, because I read that same kind of sentiment over and over again in various places on the DIS. WDW is a great place - we love it - in fact we're leaving for it tomorrow - but hands down, Disneyland is a much better Magic Kingdom IMO. It truly does have the magic that Walt intended. It's intimate and charming, while MK is large and somewhat intimidating. Both have their pros and cons, don't get me wrong. THe MK was designed by the imagineers to "fix" some of the things that were lacking in DL (wider walkways, the utilidors were put in to conceal movement of CM's and transportation of goods to the shops, etc), - BUT the DL originals of the signature attractions are simply better. WDW is a wonderful experience - and just enormous. Certainly, when comparing the two resorts - WDW wins by it's sheer size and number of amusements - but when you separate out the MK and the original MK - DL wins. But to each his/her own. Even if you weren't bowled away, you did go to the one that started it all, and that's what counts. I've met many, many people who have only been to WDW and won't even consider going to DL because of it's size and apparent "lack of stuff to do".

P.S. I'm sure when I'm at WDW over the next 10 days - I'll definitely feel the same way you did about DL - they're only after my $$$! :rotfl: Disney is Disney in whatever location you visit - they're a business out for our $$$. Creating the magic is just HOW they get us to hand over our money. WDW has just mastered ways of making it seem like they aren't doing that since you "pre-pay" for much of it and then perhaps don't notice it as much when you're on site!

Each has it's own uniqueness and magic. I grew up in Disneyland so this is my home. I like it better in the winter. When it is cold, drizzly, lights on in the tress, and the smell of popcorn in the air there is nothing like it.:cloud9:
