Just got back any questions?

i'm so glad you had a nice time... you help some disers get to Disney so glad you too get to go!

We did this back in 2006. At that time you had your lunch up by the Disney Gallery. Just curious where do they do the meal now?

They have the lunch in the Guided Tour courtyard. I really liked eating up in the Gallery area. Too bad they can't let us eat in the Dream Suite patio.

They had little tables set up by the tours booth and they served the boxed lunches there. I had seen here on the dis that they had a chili type meal as an option but now it's only sandwiches. We loved the Disney gallery and really missed it not being there this trip! DH has heard rumors they are reopening it over the AP renewal office

We booked them 30 days out and paid with our reservations. Walking in Walt's included a meal
So you paid when you got there or when you booked?

I think Lilo and Stitch was the best. They had hula lessons and a conga line and an island lesson. The characters gave us tons of attention and the food selection was different from the standard fare. They had the omeletes. waffles and bacon, etc. But they also had flautas, grilled salmon, pineapple coconut scones and bananas foster french toast- yum!
And at either Storytellers or Lilos you can get the yummy eggs benedict with the best hollandaise in the world!
Eggs Benedict....YUM!!!!!! I'm going to Storytellers!!!!!

I think what your DH did is a good way to acknowledge a famous person in a public place like that, where they are obviously enjoying family time and don't want to be bothered (I mean, Dave was all into it, with the crown on his head and everything!!!). Give them a thumbs up and a smile.:thumbsup2 That kind lets them know you know who they are, you like them, but you respect the fact that they are with family and are not going to intrude. I could restrain myself from talking to most famous people, but if I saw anyone who I have been a lifelong fan of or have always admired, it would be tough to keep away!!! I have a male friend who also LOVES Dave Grohl, and he would have probably gone and decorated a crown himself and dressed like a princess just to be in Dave's presence!!:lmao:
OK, I have no clue who Dave Grohl is.....LOL But I too liked how your DH was so courteous. :) For some people I would have a really hard time resisting but for the most part (I meet many *famous* people) I'm able to stay away. :)

Oh man, that would be too cool!!!!!!! I would love to sit up there for lunch!

Yes we paid when we booked. Storytellers had eggs benedict on the buffet and a la carte for about $18. Lilo and Stitch had it for about $13

It's a shame it can't still be up in the Disney Gallery courtyard area. It was really nice - quiet - just our group with the tour guide. Real informal.

How long is the holiday tour from beginning to end? I assume everyone congregates in one spot and then the guide tells you where you're going and all that. But from that point, how long are you officially on the tour, including the time on the two rides?

WOOHOO!!! Sounds like you had a fantastic trip!! We had a blast, too, and it was so fun to meet you on the holiday tour! I thought that tour rocked. I would LOVE to do it again. I thought it was hilarious that the morning after the holiday tour, I suddenly noticed I was right behind you in the Billy Hill line  I'm going to post about my trip as soon as my sister sends me the pictures (we used her camera for everything because I'd left mine at home).

Dave Grohl was one of the three guys in Nirvana (he was the drummer), and is the lead singer/guitarist in the Foo Fighters now. I am surprised that he hasn't crossed your path at your job yet!!

We met at 4:15. They broke us into 3 groups. Ours left about 4:30. We had earphones on so we could hear our guide and he played music sometimes from his IPOD. We walked through Main Street to the Castle. From there we moved through Frontierland to New Orleans Square so we could walk right on to HM. From there we took the train to Toontown. We went to front of the line for IASW. We then walked to the PFF for hot cocoa and Gingerbread Cookies. We made our way to our reserved seats by IASW. The grand marshalls went by and we found our seats. So we then had less than 5 minutes for the parade to start. After the parade, they gave us our pins and front of the line passes. The parade was at 6:30 that night

We really wanted to do this tour since our trip in 2006. DH and I camped out for over an hour for the parade and were sitting on the curb. Suddenly, we saw these folks get escorted to these great cushioned seats and had hot cocoa and treats. He asked,"who are they and how did they get there?" Fast forward 2 years and he had a smile on his face and said, "We are they!".

Suddenly you guys became the people that others were looking at, wondering who you were and how you got there!! We never bother with the parades simply because of what you describe. We don't want to have to squeeze in between people, or try to see over people's heads and camp out on an uncomfortable curb. The tour is worth it just for that!

So, I assume as you are doing all this walking, the guide is giving you stories and info about DLR and holiday-related tidbits, right?

So, you all met at 4:15. So would you say that the whole escapade wrapped up (after the parade ended) 3 hours later, or how long? See, if I try to 'sell' this holiday tour idea to one of my friends who asked, "Why would anyone take a tour?," I have to be able to tell her, we will be done in X amount of time. I don't think she will go for it - even though being able to waltz right on to HMH and IASWH is worth it, and having actual parade seats is worth it -and you gets treats and a pin!!

Isn't this an amazing coincidence? We're planning on staying at the Desert Inn and I'm planning on renting an ECV too. So, yes..I have questions.

What's the continental breakfast like? Can you really see the fireworks from the roof?

Where did you rent the EVC? Was it easy to get to your room with it? Where did you charge it? Did you have enough charge for the entire day at the parks? Sorry...lots of questions.

Thanks...

We never ate the cont breakfast. It started at 7:30 and the park opened at 8:00 (7:00 on our MMs) so we always missed it. There was a mcDonald's about 100 yards away so I picked up stuff there before we got in line. We tried to be the first few in line each morning. We also had 3 character breakfasts booked out of our 6 days there. DH went up to the roof late on night and could see Magic Moutain so I'm sure you could see the fireworks from there
DMIL used a ECV company the hotel recommended. The scooter was very streamline so it fit easily in the room each night. We got to the hotel around 10:00pm and it was waiting there fully charged so we just picked it up the next morning. Then she took it into our room each night. We had requested a first floor room for that purpose. It was definatley alot cheaper than the Disney EVCs and they could go to the room each night. Yes it held a charge all day

Also, if yoiu haven't used an EVC at Disney before, they are very accomodating. DMIL managed to stand in line the first few days then her knees gave out after two tours. Go to City Hall and they have a handicap guide as to how to enter each ride. Most simply let you go through the exit and show your EVC key. Up to 5 additional people can ride per key. For Indy, Space and Star Tours (each which have a very long que line) she was able to ride right up to the ride car and leave the scooter.

It was 2 1/2 hours with the parade.
