Just got back.....a few observations

HMMMMMMMMM........... A lot of people with very low post counts have a problem with NJ.

Not sure how post count number effects your ability to post, reply, state opinion, etc. Guess there are some unwritten social heirachy rules on this board.

Don't have a problem with NJ. We would have had a wonderful time there. Would love to visit again but past experiences would keep up from doing that. I would think all the wonderful people in NJ (all of those other people waiting in line, not swearing, etc.) would care. I know I sure do. I travel a lot and the impression of the Northeast is terrible. Would love to change it.

I know a lot of people from NJ who would agree.

I also am not sure what a low post count has to do with an observation. I never said I had a problem with NJ. I just responded to the post. I added my observations to the behavior of the crowds during my 3 week stay. Take it or leave it.

Hey, hey, hey...Everyone can stop now! Agree to disagree. Smile and count your blessings that most people are nice and polite.

As for Six Flags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is one of the worst places to go to in NJ, or anywhere, IMHO.

I think it's sad that this thread has turned into a Jersey discussion. But, on the other hand, I must check myself. I am not without sin. I've made the statement that I will not go to WDW when the big Brazilian kids' groups are there. It's around late June and into early July. They are quite loud and obnoxious. I think it's simply a cultural difference. Then again, I'll never put myself through it again. So, I guess my conclusion is everyone has the right to make a statement about when they would not recommend going to WDW when certain groups of people are there (i.e., cheerleaders, gay days) but I think we should do so without being insulting. If that's possible.

'nuff said.

I went last year during Jersey week and did find it crowded. We were a family of 4 from Texas on a bus where almost everyone was from New Jersey. I enjoyed visiting with them and everyone I met was friendly and polite.

I think anytime the parks are crowded there tends to be more rudeness. It shouldn't be an accusation against people from Jersey but just the fact of too many people in one place.

My only problem I had with the Jersey crowds is we needed a translator to understand each others' accents. I'm sure my Texas drawl wasn't easy for them to understand either, but I found them quite a friendly bunch.

As far as this statement goes:
Years ago we visited NJ (six flags) and were stunned by the rudeness, vulgar language, line cutting, etc.
I think you will find that at any Six Flags park in the country and is certainly not unique to New Jersey 6 Flags.

I agree that almost any Six Flags has rude people, really any crowded amusement park does. Additionally, Six Flags in NJ draws a large amount of guests from Philly and NYC too, so all those rude people can't just be NJ residents, I'm guessing some are visitors too. And I think that includes Disney, as when we were there in 12/01 and the place was empty we didn't have a rude experience the whole trip. Yet 12/02, when we went for NYE, the place was mobbed and rude people were all over the place. I think it just comes with crowds, people start thinking they're losing out on something, going to have to wait longer in line, etc. so they get pushy and often times rude. I also imagine the amount of smokers increases as if there are more people there are bound to also be more smokers.

Is this the 'all-generalization' thread ;) :)

My DW and I get annual passes for Six Flags every year (about $70 each and includes just about every Six Flags park). We go to Six Flags Over Texas (Dallas) and Fiesta Texas (San Antonio) mostly but we've also been to the parks in Houston & L.A. - haven't been to Great Adventure in years. We miss it :(

We have found the folks that work there friendly & helpful though not often well trained. We've found that if you have a little patience with them you almost always get what you need, it just takes a little longer sometimes. The parks are clean and the shows they have are ususally entertaining.

And they have some KILLER rides! We're mid-40's but we still love the thrill rides, always waiting for the first car or optimum seat  What you do see more at Six Flags is a lot of teenagers running from one coaster to another - with BIG smiles on their faces :teeth: We've never - never - experienced any line jumping. Maybe we're just lucky :p

We've encountered rudeness at Six Flags just as we did at WDW back in '90, just as we do just about anywhere. I think justhat hit the nail on the head - crowds bring out more people of every kind - whether it is at WDW, Six Flags, or your local supermarket. You can't do anything to change that but you can choose the way you deal with it and we choose not to let it affect our experience :)
