Anybody got any recommendations for Disney inspired apps - espcially ones that will help with any planning???

I can recommend the one advertised on DISBoards - eTicket WDW, also WDW Dining is also quite good :thumbsup2

I have all those they are great! I also have one with prices for rooms (and photos) on the Disney USA site, I find it quite useful if I want to quickly compare prices. I find the DIS one slow at times and end up using Safari!

Do you plan on taking your iphones with you?
What network are you on and how much will it cost
Could do with unlocking the iphone and looking for a cheaper sim out there with data allowance on it

I'm on Orange but I'm just going to keep mine on airplane mode while were over there to stop roaming charges. For calls/texts I will use my DF phone :thumbsup2

I'm with O2 and only used free wifi as the data charges would have been crippling.
Would be interested if anyone used their iphone too while in Orlando :goodvibes

Don't worry about roaming charges, roaming is turned off as standard, plus there's plenty of wifi about should you want emails etc :)

Thats good to know, I was reading on a Cruise thread that the Americans get charged really highly roaming charges, and I was worried mine might be everyone worse!

Obviously be sure to check it's on no data roaming:

SETTINGS --> GENERAL --> NETWORK --> DATA ROAMING 'OFF'

Then there'll be no data charges, but you can still recieve texts (free) and reply to them (costs 4 messages from your allowances) and recieve and make calls (both of which cost) :)

We had to use mine when we got married out there as there was a load of us all staying at different hotels - the bill was horrendous, mostly due to phone calls!

When we went to New York for the week I only sent a few texts and used the hotel's wifi and my bill didn't go over my monthly tarriff rate :)

I would recommend the Toy Story Mania game - it is fun, but costs about £2.99 :)

I went last month and my O2 bill is £88! Ouch...

Definitely turn Data Roaming off and don't be tempted to check your email and stuff whilst you are bored in the lines! I've learnt my lesson! :goodvibes

That's nothing - I had one bill of £189 and another of £93 (we went straddliing Oct/Nov)!!

I did do some slight browsing whilst "at sea" however but not much!

Mouse Memo is a useful app for keeping track of all your ADR times & reference numbers as well as flight and accomodation details. You can add much more info but these are the main things I used it for.

i managed £140 in a week with the roaming charges hehe.

O2 charges are £6 per 1mb of info downloaded, and 1 txt msg is the equivilent to 4 of your bundle.

so txting isn't really an issue whilst you are there, even phone calls are not that expensive. But like previouly said, just don't use the roaming and u'll be ok

I have also loaded SKYPE app, so that I can use that when hooked to free WiFi :rolleyes1

Eticket needs the data connection to work in the parks as i understand it, great for the Americans but not UK tourists as you will be stung for a large bill, as previous posters say turn off data roaming and also turn off location services as i here that the phone does sometimes get data through that.
There are lots of wifi spots about, Millers ale house on Idrive and the Apple shops in Mall of millenia and Florida Mall. Just pop in there to download your email
