Just got an awesome deal on a rental car

Someone told me about this on TripAdvisor -- I just booked a rental car for 3 days from John Wayne Airport. A crossover SUV, $35 for 3 days from Alamo through Costco Travel. That's $35 for the entire 3 days, not per day!! I think the OP said similar deals were available at the other SoCal airports.

Along those lines -- has anyone ever had issues with Alamo or other agencies not honoring deals that sound too good to be true like this? I have another reservation with Budget for $130 for the same time period that I'm thinking about keeping just in case!!

That is a great deal. Much less than a one-way DLR Express Bus trip.

Do you have to be a Costco member to get the deal?

In order to use a Costco discount, you would have to be a Costco member.

To the OP, would you mind sharing the discount information (codes, dates, etc.)? Alamo has always been great at honoring all the discounts that I have qualified for. I am just always sure to bring the print out of the reservation just in case. But I have never had any issues with them.

I love Alamo Car Rental.
I have used them at John Wayne and Vegas thru Costco travel and havn't had any issues.

I'd like to know the dates too. I'm down to 106 w/ taxes on a 5.5 day standard at SNA for a trip in the near future.

I use Costcotravel all the time for rentals and never had any problems. I even got it down to $53 for a standard car out of MCO for 4.5 days.

I love going to costcotravel.com for deals! I find its always cheapest through the website and it makes it easy with not having to input codes because you can search specific offers. Last year I got a suburban for less than $600! Not any luck this year so far on a premium SUV. But got a great deal on a van! Definitely book a car through them if you have a Costco membership!

Just discovered Costco's car rental section as well. We are getting a convertible for 6 days for $211 taxes in!

Priced it out for our vacation and the prices were no better Sad as we have always found deals with costco travel!

Well, I just went to Costco Travel, plugged in my dates and those were the rates I got. I didn't use any special codes. But it looks like it did put some in for me. Here's what it lists on my confirmation:

I.D. 7014627 - This looks like a standard 25% discount.

Coupon Code AD63637RM $25 Off: Offer valid when reserving a convertible, minivan, or sport utility vehicle in the United States for three
days or more through 12/31/12. One $25 off offer per Alamo rental. (Note: Other types of cars were similarly inexpensive.)

I also just changed my reservation from 3 days to 4 ... the rate went from $35 to $55, so evidently the 4th day was a little more.

My dates were Aug 23 through 26th, so this is a weekend rate.
