I too recently got a quote for
Disneyland and it made me laugh out loud! Here is the scoop:
We live in Oregon (you know, the state directly North of California

) and there is me (36) and two sons (14 and 11).
Option 1: A trip to Disneyland Anaheim for the 3 of us for 4 nights, roundtrip airfare, 3 three day park hoppers, hotel at a neighborhood hotel (Clarion was the one a picked) and airport transfers total: $1,700 +/- a few bucks and that was on Alaska Airlines w/ one kid flying for "free".
Option 2: A trip to Disney World Orlando for 3 of us for 7 nights/8 days including Magic Your Way base tickets for 6 days (good to all 4 parks) + water park feature, roundtrip airfare to Orlando, 7 nights on Disney property at Pop Century Resort and Magical Express airport transfers total: $2,000 +/- a few bucks.
It's a better deal to fly across the country!! For $300 more we get 3 additional nights and we stay on Disney property (which means extra magic hours and free transportation). Crazy if you ask me!
That would explain why we have been to Disney World every year since 2000 but not to Disneyland since 2001.
