Just got a postcard.....

I just got a postcard today for a value for $59/night. I just called and asked if there were any discounts with my pin number for deluxes instead. She said they send them out randomly and I should be receiving one soon! Then she added,"hold on to the card with the pin number and if you don't receive another card in the next month or so, call us back and we can do something"!
I thought that sounded odd, any one else ever hear of that? Also, are the card rates cheaper than the codes?

I got a postcard today too and was able to book the Contemporary for $166.00 per night for a garden view in the wing in June. The postcard says values from $59.00 but I was able to book a deluxe.

Call back, you should be able to get a deluxe room using the pin you have.

I get so frustrated dealing with the CMs. Why don't they all have the same information!!! Guess I'll call again later and see if I get a different answer.

Did you ask for deluxe rates or did they just offer some? Does that rate include tax?

I just called with a pin postcard and asked her to give me 1 value, 1 mod, and 1 deluxe price so that I could compare. Value was $59, mod was $79 and Ft W cabin was $164. Good luck!

I asked them to check for The Contemporary. I didn't even mention the values resorts. The $166.00 rate I got is before tax.

JUst called again and got a great CM. She looked for rates for me but couldn't find any deluxes for when I want to go (5/28-6/3). She got me Port Orleans Riverside for $79/night tax included. Think I might go for it and keep checking for deluxes.

Any idea on what you did to get them to send you the postcard??? (Signed up for vacation kit, stayed there a zillion times, etc??) I am dying to know!

Don't have a clue why I got one. Haven't asked for the video. Did stay there 2X last year. I felt stupid for how excited I got about getting the post card. I called my husband as soon as I walked in the door!

We stayed twice last year also. In June at the Comteporary and at thanksgiving at French Quarter.

I got an email yesterday. I called and got the Animal Kingdom in June/July for 137.00 per night pool view. I grabbed it!!!

I think Disney's randomness in selecting who to send these to is BS.

Did you already have a room booked? I think if they see you have a room booked, you do not get a card or email. Maybe not? Anybody get one after they booked a room?

when my boyfriend got the postcard last year, it only listed value discounts but when i called i was able to get a discount for a moderate hotel even though it wasn't listed on the postcard. We got POR for $79 per night plus tax. came out to $88/night

Hi there - as an ex-cast member in advertising, I can assure you that it is COMPLETELY random as far as who gets postcards. I worked in the area that actually designs the postcard. It is totally and completely random. It can be sorted in different ways. The list is compiled so many ways...so there is no rhyme or reason to this.

I went last year on these same discounted prices, but I found the discount code on another web site. We stayed at the CBR the week after Easter, got a great price for pool side upper corner room. I think they mail out the postcards and see how many bookings they get and then they release the code/s to affiliated web sites for people to use to book. I have gone quite a few times since 1984 and not once have I ever received a postcard..

It seems like every time somebody in our family has gotten a postcard, it has come to someone who has went on the trip, but didn't put the reservation in their name. Also, somehow my mom (who doesn't even own a computer) gets emails at my home about her annual pass. Go figure!

Anybody get one after they booked a room?

Two years ago, when we booked, we had received a postcard (7 for 4.) And even in the few months while we were waiting for our trip to begin, we received a few more postcards. Then, even after we returned. I think we probably got a total of 7 or 8 postcards that year.

We haven't seen any more since then.

We booked our rooms for the YC (December 2004 trip) back in March of 2004. Lo and behold, this last fall I get an e-mail from Disney with a pin # offering me discounts on the Value resorts. I called Disney and they applied the discount to my existing YC reservation. So it does happen....

On a side note, the e-mail went to a very old account I have that I rarely ever check. If it wasn't for these boards and people mentioning the e-mails, I would never have checked and gotten that discount! These boards are great!
