Hi everyone,
I know that there have been a lot of concerns about rumors of changes for the 2011 dining plan, as a result of changes in the dining plan per literature published in the UK.

I just received a phone call from WDW in response to an email I sent last week expressing my concerns, and how I'm sure that I would not be the only one who is disappointed if more modifications are made to the DDP.

She said that while everything is subject to change, she has not heard about any modifications being made where the dessert would be eliminated from the DDP, and that my email has been passed on to the Marketing department. Now, I'm not sure if they passed it on because I sent the note from my work email, which has my job title on it, but either way I thought it was nice to know that my (our) concerns are being heard, received and passed on to the appropriate parties.

Thanks,
Jen

:thumbsup2thanks for the report:thumbsup2

...will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Glad it's just a few weeks until the new brochure should be out (if they follow the previous pattern of August release dates)

Well done Jen! Nice to know they have responded. Your email was obviously enough to get their attention if they called you instead of sending you the usual generic email (you know the one with quite a few lines of text, but saying nothing?! :lmao:) Let us know if you hear anything further from them. :)

Thanks for posting this. We plan to try the dining plan for the first time in January and I was feeling a little uneasy about all the speculation regarding changes. Hopefully, we'll all find out in a couple of weeks.

well that could be good news! Although we do not usually have room for a dessert its always nice to have the option there!

I have so many desserts to try
-Ger's bread and butter pudding
-No Way Jose
-Cream cheese wontons
-who am I kidding all of them sound really good!

Thanks for sharing. :) I don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer, but my guess is that this is a canned verbal response. A Disney representative would not be able to confirm or deny any actual changes before the plan is announced publicly. They can respond to your email or call you (us) to pacify a guest. ;)

I have to side with this statement. Disney is not going to tell us anything until the 2011 information is officially released.

I am sure the OP posted with the best intentions at heart and only wants to settle the minds of those who are awaiting this information, but I would not place any stock in what the CM on the phone said. ;)

That may be true, but isn't is just as uncertain to believe that the plan is changing because the UK plan is changing? It seems that way to me, I don't think anyone will know anything, either way, until it is announced.

The main point of my original post was simply to say: if you are or have emailed Disney about your concerns regarding the rumored changes to the dining plan (as I did), they are actually reading/hearing what you are saying, and passing it on to the Marketing Department. I put the "disclaimer" in that everything is subject to change, which until the DDP info is released in what, September? Nothing is set in stone. Thanks. ;)

Technically the 2011 plan has been released just not to US customers. There is no way the UK customers can have a plan without a CS dessert and US customers get a CS dessert. It happens this way every year. Nice when you get a call back response but until it's officially out you'll continue to get the same answer. The phone reps I have talked to in response to emails I have sent in the past invariably knew less than I did.

Disney does not offer different dining plans based upon where you are traveling from. The dining plan is the same for every visitor. Same Quick Service, same MYW and same deluxe package. If it changes for one region it changes for all. The only difference is the price due to exchange rates and conversion.

Yes the dining plans will be the same for all guests. But if they thought they could drop the desserts off and see what the reactions are, then they can easily add them back on. I doubt the UK visitors would be upset if Disney decides to give them dessert.

We will just have to wait and see till they announce the 2011 Dining Plans.

Yes, I do see now that they couldn't have 2 different plans due to the confusion - I hadn't considered that. But I'm still always of the "watch and see" mindset. Of course, the fact that we don't do the DDP ever makes it pretty irrelevant to me in any case.

I had started another thread on this very subject suggesting that people (if they care about the changes) email Disney. I have not heard a response back from my email yet but it hasn't been that long.

I completely agree with this.

I tend to send a short (sometimes long) email following most of my trips to tell them about the good and the bad things that we experienced each trip. I figure after 40 trips, I know a few things about what is and isn't working well. But, regardless of what I send as a comment, I always receive a call from someone very friendly who thanks me for my comments and assures me that they will be passed along...etc. Pretty much a nice professional and GENERIC answer.

But, I do agree that at least it's getting heard somewhere. I can also say that on occasion I actually have seen things modified on my future visits. I can only assume that this is due to many people having the same feelings that I had about something needing changed or that Disney wised up and saw that something wasn't working smoothly.
However, I'll gladly take credit for any improvements that may occur!:thumbsup2

If I am following your logic, does that mean we should be getting free dining in Jan. if it's being offered to UK? (Please, please, please!):goodvibes

No the promotional offers always vary by dates and contents. But the basics of plan contents like what you get on the meal plans, ticket packages (like hoppers, plus
options,etc) are the same.

Complete Orlandoo have put a thread on the dibb on the 27th July stating that they spoke to Disney US and they have confirmed that the DDP for 2011 will remain unchanged and that they will be updating their webpage to reflect that in due course.

I wonder if that applies to pricing as well. ;)
