Just got a "modified" confirmation letter from WDW and they reduced our room rate!

We booked our second WDW trip about a month ago and did a one-night room reservation to secure our accommodations. We figured when the 2007 rates come out we will have a chance to possibly secure a better deal. Anyway, I just received a confirmation letter in the mail today and the $345.00 a night (which we were quoted at) for a studio at the BC Villas was changed to $315.00 a night.

I am wondering if the price per. night will change for us midway through our trip. We are staying at the BCV from Feb. 9 - Feb. 17, 2007. Does anyone know?

Kathy :)

I know for DVC, the season changes 2/16 (it becomes more expensive). Probably the rates were not final when you booked.

FYI, if you rented DVC points for the same room, it would probably cost about $1550 - $2325 for the whole 8 night stay (at $315/night, you'd be looking at $2974 including tax).

How would I go about doing that and would I lose any "perks" (i.e. - room service) by doing that?

Thanks in advance. :goodvibes

Hey Kathy!
I just rented points from a DVC member on the rent/trade board for the Boardwalk for Feb. 11to16, 2007. Once you can get past the whole, I don;t know you can I trust you kinda feeling it's actually very easy and painless!!
I have rented from some very wonderful people here on the rent/trade board and have had nothing but good luck!! One draw back is that you don"t get mousekeeping service for the whole week, only mid week for a 5 night stay, but it only cost us 65 points for a studio at BWV for a sun-Fri stay! If you have any additional questions you can pm me and I'd be happy to help you out!!
Debbie

To rent points you can get more info on the DVC Rent/Trade forum on this site.

This would be a private agreement between you and the DVC member renting the points. The member makes the reservation in your name, but the member always has control of the reservation. Therefore there is an element of trust. Most agreements are not refundable, much like Priceline, since you are getting a bargain on the room. Most will reschedule. It all varies by member.

You do not get daily housekeeping, unless you pay extra and its much more expensive to rent points on Friday and Saturday night, so you would have to figure your total cost.

Other than daily housekeeping the perks are the same as booking with Disney, minus the cancellation policy.

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. I was talking to my husband last night and we are still "on-the-fence" about the whole renting points thing. It sounds wonderful and who wouldn't want to save some money. I am just a little nervous about not having control of our reservation. I guess we have to weigh the pros and cons of each and go with the plan that best works for us.

Thanks again everyone!

Kathy :)

Hi Kathy,
I have a question for you...
Did you book your reservations thru Disney or a Travel Agent??
I keep hearing about room upgrades and discounts but I am curious to know if you have to be part of the dvc to get any of these benifits!! :confused3

We booked our room reservation through Disney. When I called to reserve a Villa (for 2/9/07 - 2/17/07) they charged my credit $345.00 (+ tax) which was what the "going" rate was at the time I booked. This charge was only for one night (which holds my reservation for the week). They told me that once the 2007 rates came out, they would "modify" my reservation. I received a "modified" reservation notice yesterday in the mail which stated that my room rate went down to $315.00 a night, but after a little research (and some help from the Disney Veterans on the message board) I've come to find out that on 2/16/07, my room rate will jump up to $425.00 a night because that is when "peak season" at WDW begins. I think I figured out that I will owe about $2,649.00 for our accommodations at the end of our stay.

I thought that the rate you pay for your entire stay is the one in effect on the day you check in. Is this not right???? :confused3

No, you are right - lol. I just found that out a second ago. :rotfl:

I was misinformed.

You really should look into renting points. You won't lose any perks -- you'll still have room service available, be able to use ME and EMH, plus you'll save quite a bit of money to pay for meals and souvenirs. As previously posted, there would be no extra charges in room tax either. Either way -- have a great time!

The one thing you do loose is daily maid service. Theydo trash and towerl on the 4th day and a full clean on the 8th. You can pay extra for a full cleaning, but really it isn't that big a deal!
