We are looking to take our first trip to the "dark side" and I just got a code via email for a stay at Cabana Bay. The code is a number. Are these common? Usually good? As elusive as a Disney code? We are trying to make this a budget 3 day or so trip.

We also looked at a Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn Express that say are "preferred" Universal hotels or something with a shuttle to the parks. Anyone ever stay at either place?

Thanks for all your help!!:cool1:

We will be going to Universal for the first time in Nov. How do you get these codes? Sorry I don't know much about Univ. just starting the research now. Thanks

You sign up for email at Universal Orlando and Loews hotels and hope for the best..No rhyme or reason as to who gets them and who doesnt.I got 4 last year .None the year before and only one this year that wasnt for my dates.

With Cabana Bay you get early admission. With the other two hotels you don't unless you purchase a package through the www.universalorlando.com website.

Just checked the website and it says you get Early Admission with all 4 hotels but there is a disclaimer that states it's only IOA. Not sure if they just haven't updated the website info
"Paid theme park admission required. Early Park Admission begins one (1) hour prior to Universal’s Islands of Adventure regular scheduled park opening for on-site hotel guests and is valid 7 days a week for travel through 12/31/14; valid only at select Islands of Adventure attractions: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, Flight of the Hippogriff™, Dragon Challenge™ and Caro-Seuss-el™.

By other two hotels, I was referring to the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn that the poster was inquiring about.

We'll know soon what Universal has in store for early admission since Grand Opening of Diagon is only a couple of days away. Last year when they opened Transformers they had early admission for IOA and Universal.

I've stayed at the hampton inn on windhover and the holiday inn express on major. Both have free limited shuttle times to the parks. The HIE also is on the trolley line. Both hotels are nice and provide a good location. They both provide a free hot breakfast and have rooms with fridges.
