Just get back? Any World Cup Plans?

If you visited WDW recently, did you hear about any plans regarding the soccer World Cup? We're going to be at the Floridian June 8-12, and were wondering if any of the countries in EPCOT had any plans to show a game or two.

I'm going to move you to Theme Park Strategies, I'm sure someone will know the question to your answer. I'll leave a copy of it also in Trip Reports in case someone did hear of the World Cup. Your best bet might be the ESPN Club by the Boardwalk if you want to watch.

I do know there was nothing happenning in 2002. But I just remembered-maybe that's because the games were on in the middle of the night.

I didn't hear anything, but I'm sure the individual pavillions in WS will be supporting their country team. The store in the German pavillion had a lot of great world cup merchandise, as they are hosting this year.

I'm a huge international soccer fan and I was also at WDW during the middle of the World Cup in 2002 and I cannot remember WDW doing anything to acknowledge it- even at the pavilions in the World Showcase. I even went to dinner in Germany the evening that Germany beat the US 1-0 in the quarterfinal round and the German natives working there did not seem to care one way or the other. So I doubt that WDW is doing anything extra this time either. The games will be on at a better time in the US than they were last time when it was in Japan and South Korea so the best "atmosphere" for the World Cup games will probably be at the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk.
