Just found out !!! RCI points can transfer to DVC !!

I am also wondering what the best timeshares are to own that will pull good DVC trades (either weeks or points). I am thinking of adding a timeshare to the current one I own...my current one is in Orlando and wont get me a DVC. But it does get me Vero Beach :)

I believe my friend owns mainly in Hawaii. At least that's where she goes a lot.

well did you get one?

I haven't had a chance to call them yet. I've been too busy and often when you get on the phone with them it can be time consuming. I will be working from home next week and will give it a shot. Thanks for asking :-)

I'll ask again, why not go online, your chances of success are much better.

Our points don't renew until January, so I had to call them and find out how many we were going to get. And I had several other questions. They were very helpful and answered all my questions. DH and I are going to discuss, pick some dates for next year and then go ahead and book. The group we have going with us in October has too many people to fit into the type of room we have points for, so we are sticking with our off-site resort for this trip. I'm super excited about staying on site next year, though. And I'm trying to talk DH into getting an annual pass for this trip, so when we go next year, the only out of pocket money we need to spend will be food, gas and souveniers. That will help with his miserly ways :rotfl:

If you have online access you don't have to wait with RCI points. IF they are accessible by phone call they should be accessible by RCI website. Plus I don't think RCI limits you from searching even if you don't have the points available.

A while back we did this using points that were given to us by a family friend who could not use them due to work commitments. She has a lot of points, so she has a lot of trading power (or whatever it is they call it. sorry I'm not familiar with the terminology) and was able to get us the week we wanted very easily. She did have to watch for it every day starting at about 9-10 months out and if she didn't jump on it right away, we didn't get it. For example, we initially hesitated on a 2-bedroom at Boardwalk available in early December and it was gone in 30 minutes. I have heard that BLT and VWL are very difficult to get and that the Epcot resorts are impossible to get during Food and Wine, but it seemed like everything else was available, especially if you had some flexibility with your dates.

After she made the reservation, all I had to do was give the RCI representative at DVC Mouse Services my RCI confirmation number which she converted to a regular DVC reservation, and then she added my information (husband, kids' ages, etc) to the reservation. The DVC rep was wonderful. She could not have been more helpful. Check-in was also very easy, so it's obvious that Disney has been dealing with a lot of these RCI trades. They upgraded up from a standard view (which I think is what most RCI trades are) to a Savanah view without us even asking.

Good luck!

So, what is the number to DVC Mouse Services. RCI has been NO help to me. I want to get my confirmation number and RCI tells me that Disney won't have my reservation until January. That just CANNOT be right.

We have RCI weeks and have been able to get some weeks - I was able to book a 2bdrm at SSR last Sept that I booked about 7 months out and I just booked a 1 bdrm at OKW for next April so about 10 months out. I know with these trades I book what is available and use our DVC points around them. For those of you trading into to RCI for Disney, where do you own and are they a fixed week/flex week or points? We own at Palace Resorts and have flex weeks.

I also own a Palace Resort with flex red weeks, but I think I am unable to see DVC availability. I have put a request in for an ongoing search for May 2011 but have yet to hear anything.

Are you able to see DVC availability? How soon do you deposit your week?

AI's tend to have poor trade power but May might be workable.

It is against the DIS policies to post the DVC MS phone number. If you have an RCI confirmation, the MS number should be on that.

Also, it is possible the info you were given (reservation not in DVC computers until January) is correct. When is your reservation for?

Jim, the phone number is not on RCI points reservations though RCI should easily be able to give the number.

.

I don't recall exactly how long it took for Mouse Services to get my reservation, which was made at 10 months out, in their system. When my friend made my reservation, she sent me an RCI confirmation as well, although that number is different from your DVC reservation number. I think she mentioned that Disney wouldn't have the reservation number right away. If I had to guess, I'd say I called Mouse Services about 3 months later to give them my information. They'll need to know exactly who's going, their ages, etc.

When you call you'll get a prompt asking what you need, including if you need to speak to an RCI representative. I found this cast member to be incredibly helpful. They know what they're doing and the process was very easy. I added the dining plan at that time as well. We didn't use Magical Express, but I think the owner has to make arrangements for that, although once your reservation number is in Disney's system, it seems to allow you to do whatever the RCI owner can do.

When you get your DVC reservation number, it won't be in the regular system so you can't view it the way you would a regular reservation. You'll have to go to the DVC page. I'm sorry, but I don't have that link.

Hope that helps.

I know they get a report on Tuesday. Info I got tonight suggests they get it about once a week on Tues.
