Just for the record, I didn't party

It's been all over the news here today that Clemson University is the second ranked party school in the country. It took me by surprise, even though I knew that many of the students partied a lot more than I did. Part of that ranking comes by how easy it is to obtain drugs. If you can get drugs easily in Clemson, South Carolina, which is a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere, I guess you can get them anywhere. :(

I transferred to Clemson when I moved from Texas to SC, so I only spent a few semesters there, but I never went to a party the whole time. I guess that's why it was so easy for me to be summa cum laude.

The University near us receives this little "honor" every few years. Can't say that I ever learned a THING about partying at that university, while living on the campus every summer for summer school during my high school years.

What is even worse is IU was the first! Nothing else to do here but sit in the corn so maybe that is why. =P I was shocked to hear that though.

Well, you can always go back and get your Masters and make up for lost time. . ;)

:teeth:

Yeah, right. Thou do protest too much...:p (j/k)

Come on party girl, lets make up for lost time!:Pinkbounc

A little bit of partying is good for the soul. ;)

To each his own...believe it or not I never once attended one college party... :( I wish I had...I feel I missed something.

I was dismayed at IU being #1 too. Especially that they are quite strict and have cracked down in the last few years. 25 years ago, a keg party in a dorm at IU and other big ten campuses was openly advertised. Today that would be unheard of. IU was nowhere on the list last year. Then I read the story about the study. A primary criterion in the study was simply the popularity of Fraternities and Sororities. I don't think its a given that just because Fraternities are popular that it is a "party school". IU also won Time's research university of the year this year. So I guess I'll take the bad with the good.

I went to Penn State. Seems like they always make the top 10 party list - guess that's why I had to transfer to graduate. :( I thought University of Maryland would make the list. Tragically, two students died this past year from partying - both at frats.

BTW, I have nothing against partying or fraternities and sororities. I do have a problem with the drug use and binge drinking that so many students seem to associate with parties. I did go out and have fun in college, I just did it with my own groups of friends at local restaurants and similar places because I would have just ended up driving people home all night instead of having fun if I went to a real party.

I'm disappointed that WVU no longer makes the list. We used to be one heck of a party school. The first night of classes each year there was this party called the "Block Party". It was more like 20 block party though. What great times those were....*sigh*

Some great thoughts there, Amy. :sunny:

UMASS was in the top 5 when I was there (I think it was #1 the year before I went). Had a great time, joined a sorority, partied a lot, and learned how to make awesome Jungle Juice.

then I got bored with partying and my parents got sick of paying for partying (I was 17 - what did they expect I was going to do ;) ) and then transfered.

And now I live 3 miles from the Top 3 sober school in the country.

Florida State always makes the top 10, I think we fell to 6 this year. Not sure what we were ranked when I was there, but DH(we were engaged at the time) and I tended to party with his ROTC friends, never too wild(nothing illegal) but we had fun! I managed to graduate with a 3.4999:rolleyes: !

I went to a school primarily known for its 'geekiness', but that didn't stop us from partying like it was 1999 (AND IT WAS)! LOL!!! :)
