I just finished reading "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult. OMG - what an amazing book.

My SIL was reading it last Easter during our WDW vacation & when I asked her how it was she said, "pretty good". I really didn't show an interest in reading it. Then I saw it advertised at Media Play & I figured as long as it was on sale I'd pick it up.

I can't say enough about how amazing this book was. It was funny, warm, happy, sad, heart-wrenching, something to make you think. I haven't read a book like this in a very long time.

I'd highly recommend it to anyone - especially parents.

A friend at work is reading that one right now too. I've read a few of Jodi's books and liked them, so I plan to pick it up for our trip next week.

Ok, I need vacation reading book for our trip next week and I have a barnes and nobles gift card from Christmas.

I liked the sisterhood of the traveling pants books, that is my recomendations. I can't wait for the 4th one. (I am 34 years old BTW, why should teens have all the fun?) :goodvibes

I read My Sister's Keeper this past summer, it was a great read. Certainly kept me thinking and turning those pages. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was my all time favorite series. I read them this summer also, in 3 days. I was so taken by the way the author allowed each character to make mistakes and showed the consequences that may ensue from the mistakes. I called my friend who teaches with me and we started a Pants bookclub for the 7th and 8th grade girls. They love it! We have become Pants crazy! I highly recommend these books for mothers of daughters, for daughters, for women who were once teens... anyone who remembers the magical years of growing up.

ALL of her books are amazing. My Sister's Keeper was the first one I read and that inspired me to read several more of hers. I think I'll get another this week. She is a wonderful writer.

If you like "My sister's keeper" you will also enjoy "The Pact", Also by Jodi Picoult. It is an extremely intense book. I read it in two days.

I'm in the middle of reading this book to. I'm upset the Holidays are getting into my reading time. CAn't wait for them to be over then I can continue the book. And yes, I too enjoyed the sisterhood books and I'm 47 toaday! AHHHHHHH That's the first time I said it. :rotfl:

Great book! Even my DD read it (normally not much of a reader - and especially fiction).. How did you like that twist at the end? I usually see them coming, but I sure didn't see it with that one! I hope to read some more of her books next spring/summer.. :flower:

I thought it was a great book, I have bought a few others of hers since I read that one. I am now reading The Pact.

C.Ann - as soon as I realized what the twist was, I actually gasped a breath of air & then the tears started streaming down my face was.

My SIL (the one who told me about My Sister's Keeper) is reading The Pact right now & said it is very good. I also have Plain Truth by this same author. I'm definitely getting more of her books.

I am bad when it comes to titles, is Plain Truth about the little girl and the minister? If that is the one, it was really good also.

I read it on the plane when we flew to Florida at the end of November. I read it at one go. The ending shocked me and I worried my DH as I started to cry, not something I normally do. Since I got back I have leant it to several people who have all enjoyed it. I think it should be required reading for every parent who is thinking about a "designer baby" to help another sibling.

You'll definitely some tissues in that pool bag if you decide to take it along with you.

It is such a touching book though. I read a lot & this is one of the best, if not the best, book I have ever read. At times my heart ached for each & every one of the characters in the book.

I've read everything that Jodi Picoult has written - amazing author and every book is well worth the read. She has a new book coming out in March. I saw her speak in November and she is a wonderfully entertaining. She went into great detail about how she does the research for her books.
Plain Truth, (Amish girl that gave birth and baby ended up dead) and The Pact were both made into "Lifetime" made for TV movies. She has a signed, (big screen) movie deal for, "My Sisters Keeper" and it should be going into production soon if it already isn't.

Jodi Picoult is an amazing writer. I really liked The Pact and Mercy. I just got Harvesting the Heart for Christmas, so I'm hoping to read it soon.

I just finished that last week. I've been waiting a loooong time to borrow it from a friend, but glad I finally got it! Her stuff is just so heart-wrenching though!!........P

My friend let me borrow that book about a year ago. It made me cry. I was able to sympathize with all the characters. What a great book. Another good book is A Millon pieces by James Fry. Oprah had it on her book club. it is about a guy who is trying to get over an addiction in rehab.
