Just engaged, met with Disney Planner, but have questions!

Itgirl- I made the packets myself! I bought the pocket holder thingies at AC moore they came with invite cards but I didn't use them. They we 40% off with the discount coupon so not too bad. The magnets I hade made by www.magnetstreetweddings.com they were like 42 a magnet but you have order a min of 50.

Those are AMAZING! I thought DFTW did the save the dates :confused3

Pixie08,
Those look great! What program did you use with the castle? Also, did WDW give you the flyers about the resorts for the ones in your room block? I can't wait to make mine! I used to sing at weddings and saved lots of programs that I liked, and I made my sister's a couple of years ago.

Srualmn- Disney does provide save the dates but they are more like a sheet of paper and reservation forms I just wanted something different. Also Disney won't be sending the std's until after we sign our contract and since we are in a convention center that won't be until Nov :confused3 and I thought since most of our guests are up north a years notice would be nice.Oh and yeah it would be great if they counted room nights wouldn't it? :rotfl:

Itgirl753- I collected clipart from the internet and used the program microsoft publisher for layout. I collected most of the info from sites like this one and www.allearsnet.com

Oh my, I think I've been thinking about this the wrong way. I thought the $5000 more for Friday and Sunday and $10000 more for Saturday was an extra cost to have it on that day. Now I see it looks like that is actually the minimum expenditure you need to have to have it on those days. Well that makes a HUGE difference!! I wondered why anyone would just flat out pay $10,000 to have their wedding on a Saturday as apposed to any other day :rotfl: Please excuse my ignorance! :rotfl:

SRU:) I don't think it is ignorant...many people don't make it to 20k for their plans, so in a sense you were right...you would have to spend more than you had planned just to have it on that day. I personally went with a Thursday so that I didn't have to worry about spending extra money. It was a little less convenient for some of the guests...but all the most important people made it!

Thanks, that's a good point. We are haveing our ceremony at the WP and I 'think' our reception in the NAPA room of the Contemporary. Our email did say something about November being when they can finalize, so that means they won't send out save the dates until then and we can't sign our contract until then? YIKES!! Glad I 'talked' to you. I'd like for it to be sooner too! magnetstreetweddings, here I come! (Although I don't have an extra $200 right now  )

We just picked a Thursday too! :cheer2: Most of our friends that we have emailed acted like a Thursday would be doable with this much notice. However, most of my family members are teachers so it doesn't matter.

Thank you!!! They're not as 'cool' as the magnets, but I can handle $60 right now much easier than $200 ;)

LOL :lmao: Definitely not as cool as magnets...but in the end definitely more practical on the budget...

btw--I love your baby...he's adorable!! :sunny:

Srualmn I don't know how computer savvy you are but I know it is pretty easy to make your own magnets as well (my printer was acting up so that is why I bought them but I would have made them too) You can buy magnet paper at a craft store and just print whatever you want on them like a pic of you guys and the date of the wedding etc they come out really cute. Also I think one advantage of the Cali grill is that you can sign your contract as soon as you get your date at the one year mark and if you have your guest list ready to go for Disney they will send the std's right out(though I would check with Disney when you can sign your contract for sure). See with convention centers you have to wait until the 8 mos mark (for us Oct) :furious: in case a convention wants to come in and kick you out :confused3 so our std's would not go out until nov meaning only giving people 6 mos notice....so for you waiting for the Disney std's and saving the $$$$ may not be so bad after all :teeth:

Hi Disneyjenny! Congratulations on your engagement. It's a very exciting time. We just got engaged last month and are planning a March 2007 wedding. I noticed you said you were a teacher. I am as well, and we orginally thought about the summer, but a) couldn't wait that long and b) weren't crazy about the heat. We are doing it the week before spring break. I will be taking 4 personal days from work and then I have two weeks off for a honeymoon before returning work, so it works out nicely. So just another thought if you didn't want to do it during the summer.

Good luck!

Well, I think I could probably make some then! Wow! I love you girls!!!! I am pretty good with the computer and with Publisher so I'm sure I could figure it out :) GREAT IDEA!!!!!

Our email said that the only sites you can book the date for a year in advance were Ariels, a theme park location, or Atlantic Dance Hall :confused3 It said we cannot secure anything until November 12 (which is 8 months out.) Now I'm confused!

Oh see that's why I said to check :rotfl: I guess you are in the same boat as me! I think my wedding is just a couple of weeks before yours? The magnets should be pretty easy plus if you get a 40% off coupon to micheals or ac moore you can get a really good deal ;)

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but I plan to use business card-size magnets. They're precut to that size and are sticky. That way I can use the perforated business card paper to print on. I have a friend who mail ordered some, but I'm sure I can probably find them somewhere local too....like you said, hopefully with a 40% off coupon!

Yep! It looks like yours is 20 days before ours! Save us some cake ;)

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and am planning a Sept 2, 2007 Disney wedding. I've been browsing the threads and this one is one of the many that have been very helpful. I as well was thinking about sending out save-the-date cards and asking people to respond. our guest list is currently 170 but I would love for our ceremony to be at Seabreeze point. If I knew for sure that only half of our guest would come we could have it there but if not we may be limited to the wedding pavilion. I just was wondering if anyone else has any ideas regarding the RSVPing to the save the dates.
thanks for all of you help!!!

Where are you thinking of having your reception? That is what determines how early you can book. I was going to do my own save the dates prior to the ones Disney was going to send out, but I found out with my reception location (California Grill Napa Room) that we could book 12 months in advance, which means Disney will be sending out our save the dates in about 2 weeks (9ish months ahead.) I figured there was no reason to send our own.
