Just discovered M:A:S:H

A good college friend of mine threw a big party for the final show. I remember taking a picture of the opening shot with my camera. Not my favorite show, but I'll watch reruns every now and then.

we LOVED this show back then, my mom watched it every week. I liked it a lot more after the first 3 seasons, but I also liked BJ (and Klinger) the best, and my mom enjoyed Hawkeye and Winchester.
Finale is and likely will be the most watched TV show. we certainly were there for it.
that Season 3 episode is unforgettable for sure.

The amazing thing was to think how watched it was without an inkling of social media hype around it. That popularity built on word of mouth mostly. No such thing as a spoiler. Unless you were one of the lucky free to have a VHS and tapped it vs watching it live. Everyone watched it at the same time.

Funny thing was I lived in Hawaii at the time. Our network TV was a week delayed from the mainland. But we still didn’t know what happened. No Internet

It was actually Colonel Flagg (but was a Captain as one of his aliases) and from the wikipedia page "Other aliases include Major Brooks, Captain Louise Klein, Lieutenant Carter, Ensign Troy, and Chaplain Goldberg."

He was only in 6 episodes, but always memorable...
Only six? Wow, it felt like a lot more.

I had a soft spot for Radar, so my preferred seasons are where he is still there.

And Charles Emerson Winchester the Third was such a good character, better than Frank Burns.
I loved that there were certain episodes people from the ensemble got a dedicated episode, like nurse Kellye.

I loved Captain Flagg and Sydney the psychiatrist. Was there ever a truly bad character on the show though?

I watched the series several times. It is definitely one of the best ever.
The Sydney episodes were always some of my favorites as well.

Thought Harry Morgan was a corker in the episode as the mentally unstable Maj. Gen. Bartford Hamilton Steele. The show first aired on September 10, 1974.

MASH... part of the fabric of my young adulthood. I remember watching the final episode in the TV of the dorm where I lived when I was 26. OMG... we were all so quiet at the end, and then a few started to sniffle; it was over, truly over.

I think one of the most wrenching episodes for me was when Colonel Blake shipped home. I've read that they nobody except Radar rehearsed that last part, that nobody knew what was coming so that the response was genuine.

I remember a whole episode of Sydney providing commentary about each person in the camp. And I want to say he was in the infamous episode about Hawkeye on the bus with the chicken. That episode I only saw in reruns, and was quite the doozy!

Long ago, I remember our family going to some air show at a base. This particular event also featured had a bunch of MASH look-a-likes. I only remember seeing Radar, who looked nothing like Radar.

Anyhow, if you like MASH, your life is incomplete without a Klinger action figure.

I grew up watching MASH; and we watched the entire series during the pandemic with my teenagers. They would both tell you that it's their very favoite show ever.

My favorite show ever! I watch it anytime I see it on TV. My favorite years were when Potter came in and before Winchester. Frank Burns was a riot - or rather, what Hawkeye and BJ did to him was.
