My Mom would really like to go to Tchoup Chop while we're at RPR next week. However, my Sis read the menu and turned up her nose at everything but the desserts. I kind of expected her to cause she's quite picky and pretty much eats the same 10 items. My Sis would just go hang out by herself while we're at TC but this is a family vacation and we would like for her to be included.

Soooo, I was thinking maybe we could all just go to TC for drinks & desserts. When I brought up the idea to my Mom she said the idea sounded good to her but she thought it was kinda cheesy to go into such a nice restaurant for only drinks & desserts. None of us have ever been to TC so I'm not sure if this would be inappropriate or not. To be honest, I didn't even think of it being inappropriate until Mom said something about it. Do you guys think this is too cheesy? Please pardon me if my question seems lame. :o

No, I don't think it's cheesy at all. Just tell them that when you make your ressie, since you'll probably feel uncomfortable having 3 people waiting on you for just desserts and drinks.

Their banana cream pie is out of this world, if that's your thing -- worth going to for that alone. They also have some gourmet teas. If by drinks you mean cocktails, hopefully you'll have a better go of it than I did. It took them 3 tries and 20 minutes to make me a whiskey sour, straight up. :D

I bet my sister could out picky your sister! The last restaurant we went to she would not eat her salad (which was her entree) because the lettuce (romaine) was "too green". I have resolved this by not catering to it.

I say if you and mom have your hearts set on Tchoup Chop, then you should go and enjoy yourselves. Your sister can make up her own mind about whether or not to accompany you. Yes, it is a family vacation, but a pizza and chicken finger tour of Universal would not be fair to you and your mom either.

I agree with this sentiment. One of the many things that makes UO so special compared to your local amusement park are the fabulous restaurants available. Places like Tchoup Chop, Mama Della's, Mythos, Lombard's Landing, etc., etc. not only rank among the world's best themepark restaurants, but they also outrank all of the restaurants available in most of the country's small to mid-size cities. So, unless you live in one of those rare places that has some great restaurants, go to the places you and your Mom want, and your sister can have the grilled cheese or chicken fingers from the kids menu.

I agree with the others -- you and your mother should go to Tchoup Chop for dinner. It's a lovely restaurant and the food is great. Perhaps your sister could order an appetizer and dessert and not order an entree.

Enjoy!

I bet your sister could find something that she liked. I am not sure what her "usual" items are, but I thought the chicken in the combo platter tasted liked grilled chicken (on the BBQ outside with no sauce). Also, the ribs were really really yummy, but weren't exotic. They tasted like plain old ribs, but really tender and good. If anything, why don't you guys order dinner, etc. and your sister can just order dessert. Stop by McDonalds or something for her afterwards ;) .

Thank you for responding! :D We're going to take a little bit of all of your advice...we're all going to Tchoup Chop for dinner and my Sis can just order dessert if that's what she wants but me & Mom are going to have "real" food & dessert.

Yum...banana pie! Thanks for the rec AlexandNessa! Yep, I meant cocktails. 3 Tries and 20 min. for a whiskey sour, straight up?! Oh my.

IMGONNABE40!, I'm sorry but that is too funny that your Sis wouldn't eat her salad because the lettuce was too green. You're right your Sister does out-picky my Sis. My Sis won't eat any meat unless it's boneless skinless chicken breast that I've cooked. She likes cheese, but only cheddar. She likes pasta with tomato sauce...canned tomato sauce, not spaghetti sauce that has spices in it. She's just picky. I don't know where she got her pickiness from cause we're all pretty adventurous with our tastebuds.

Anyway, thanks again!

U will love Tchoup also they have spcls daily on menu so your sis might find something there:jester:
