What happens to all the un-eaten food from the buffets everyday? I have always thought there would be less popular dishes that there is excess of or simply just to much food prepared. I'm sure the crew would get to pick on it but there's got to be a lot of food left over.

What do you think's in the burger?

(note: if you get this reference, you're probably as old as I am)

We had a galley tour once and they said that they make a lot of their pasta/mayo salads for the next day's buffet with leftover stuff from the night before but they do grind most up and feed the fish.....

As stated some is grinded up into fish food. It is about the only thing that does go over the side or in this case, under, in the water.

It's entirely possible the picture was from YCDTOTV's predecessor but it doesn't look THAT old.

They told us the crew gets to eat some of the leftovers.

Other items are made available the next day or repurposed in other dishes.

The stuff that is "safe" to be turned in to fish food is ground up and sent over board.

The rest is packed in to large trash bricks and frozen til they can dispose of it at the next port (or at their home port)
