Just curious, What is your occupation?

Oops...I forgot to post my occupation! I am an occupational therapist and my DH is a police sargeant.

I am a mortgage loan processor. I'm fortunate enough to still have my job in this incredibly unstable time in the mortgage industry. However, my boss may be retiring in a couple of years so I'll be looking for a new career then. I live in NW Indiana and if anyone knows anyone who's going to be hiring for a really cool job in a couple of years, tell them to add me to their contact list...I'll be ready for a career change at that point! The mortgage industry can really wear you out! :goodvibes

My husband is an Operator for Merrillville Public Works. It's not as glorified of a position as what most of you have posted on this thread, but it's a government job and our insurance is cheap and he's off every holiday known to man.

My husband is also in the process of starting his own business. He's going to be selling discount cards. It's similar to the Entertainment or Golden Opportunities books, but you only have to carry this card with you and not a whole book full of coupons. He's leaning towards promoting it as a fundraising tool for churches and schools and other organizations. So wish us luck!! :scared:

"Retired" high school social studies teacher, and currently mom and full time nursing student.QUOTE]

Congratulations on your shift in careers. I'm always impressed by the heroes who choose to give back to the community. And you're on your way to doing it for a second time. You are to be commended twice over!

Dick Taylor

Oh my gosh--- thank you so much! That is so incredibly nice of you! I loved teaching, but the hours didn't work for my family, so nursing was always my second choice (and the flexibility of hours is appealing). Thank you so much for your kind words!

I'm retired after spending 30 years as a state employee for the State of North Carolina. I was an Information Technology manager. DW is retired after spending 27 years as a Teacher Assistant. I know a lot of people retire and then take on second careers, but so far I've had absolutely no interest what so ever. We stay active in our Church and try to take a week long trip at least once every three months. Our daughter teaches fourth grade and we help her out occasionally at her school (I've become quite good at doing bulletin boards :)). We have three WDW trips lined up over the next 6 months followed by a return to Hilton Head next June. Live is good :cool1:.

I'm a Program Analyst (working with the Freedom of Information Act) with the Federal Government.

I hit 20 years with the Federal Government on June 1, 2007! :rotfl2:

I'm a technical writer/course developer for an engineering software company. My company was recently purchased by a major WDW sponsor, so I'm hoping there's a VIP lounge in my future. Not for next trip, though. No business cards yet, and currently, no VIP lounge to flash them at, anyway.

I'm the European IT help desk manager for a large American private bank. DH manages the treasury department at the local branch of a Bermudan private bank.

Yes, there are lots of private banks in the Channel Islands... :rotfl2:

DH and I are both high school teachers. I teach Special Education Algebra to students with learning disabilities. DH teaches Health Academy World History.

I'm a Business Consultant for Apple Computers and my DW is a professional Photographer who owns her own studio.

I'm an Air Traffic Controller at Canada's busiest airport - Toronto. DW is a SAHM to DS8 and DD6.
Only 19 more years until I can retire and go work for the Mouse:)

I'm a semi-retired college professor - Geography. This semester I'm teaching 3 sections of World Geography and one section of U.S. History (so much for the retired part). :rotfl2:
When I'm not teaching, I'm fishing some of the best bass lakes in East Texas, I live right next to LAKE FORK.
My wife is operating room nurse, specializing in cardiac surgery.

Let's hear it for the Calumet Region! :)

HEY NEIGHBOR!!! I've only seen one other DISer on here from the area, (Crown Point to be exact) and they are mostly on the DCL forums. Everyone else I've come across on the DIS boards is from either further East of Fort Wayne or south of Indy. It seems like I have a hard time finding DISers in "The Region"!

Ok, sorry to go:offtopic: just posting a quick reply!! :goodvibes

I stay home w/our 4 and 6 yr old and volunteer at school too.

DH is active duty military and works in admin.

I am an Accountant at a tax firm full time, and a Creative Memories Consultant part time. My DH owns his own 18 wheeler and delivers groceries to Wal-Mart.

I am a college professor. I first taught in public ed for 23 years at a local H.S. Then in 1990, I got the chance to teach for our local college, and have been do9ng that since. I teach basic/technical drafting, AutoCAD and Solidworks CAD programs. However the best news now is, I'm going to RETIRE! at this semesters end.
