Just Curious - How Chilly Does it get...

on the Veranda in the evening the first week of May on a Western Caribbean cruise? I know it is variable depending on the weather at the time, but generally speaking are jackets / sweatshirts required to stay warm? We plan on spending a great deal of time on our veranda with a glass of wine looking at the stars.

Absolutely not. It will be in the 90's during the day and 80's at night.

I think it really depends on your temperature tolerance and as you stated, the weather variables. I have been on 11 (?) cruises from AK to W Caribbean and unlike AmEx I never cruise without my favorite hoodie and cardigan. Big LL Bean or LE Jacket? Probably not? A hoodie, sweatshirt or sweater? Unless packing is a big problem, why not?

My concern is how cool it gets on the water at night. I haven't been to the Caribbean, but spend a lot of time on the Great Lakes. It can be 90 during the day in the summer, but walking on the beach at night sometimes requires a light jacket due to the cooling effect of the water on the air. Sounds like it won't be an issue, but will have a wind breaker just in case. Can't wait!

We did Western Caribbean last May, and it was hot every single day In Jamaica (Falmouth) I think my daughter even had a heat stroke, her face was all red :S There was honestly never a day when it felt chilly other than if we were inside the ship where it was air conditioned.. so yes I would still bring a jacket or cardigan, but for indoor.

Side note: I get chilly in the dining rooms during dinner. I need a light sweater even in July / August.

I can't imagine needing a jacket on western Caribbean in May. We just sailed western Caribbean on Fantasy Feb. 6-13. It got down into the upper 50's overnight, but by May it should be much warmer.
