Just wondering if you came home from the grocery store and asked DH to help carry in groceries, would he willingly, would he do it but complain? Or would he flat out say NO?....

Mine actually insists on helping... He doesn't want me carrying heavier items.

DH unloads the groceries. Since he cooks, he knows where everything goes. sometimes he even goes food shopping alone while I am working.

My dh would come out and help without me having to ask. :thumbsup2

Believe me he does many other annoying things. This is one good thing he actually does though..

mine is usually with me when i grocery shop, and he brings in the bags without being asked, then he helps put everything away. he also does laundry and occasionally washes dishes. i'm a very lucky woman.

Almost always would not automatically do it without my asking. If I ask he'll do it without complaint, but sometimes he'll ask me to wait a few minutes, which turns into longer than I'd like and then I just do it myself.

My 17 year old son is about the same, though sometimes he'll just come out to do it without my asking him, if he knows I've been to the store.

If he hears my car pull up, he runs out (usually shirt less.... ugh) and grabs 95% of the bags. If he doesn't hear because hes upstairs or something, he comes out after I come in with the first batch, and gets the rest. He doesn't help me put it away, but will put stuff in the ourside freezer when I ask. Hes also been known to empty the dishwasher, but he still has no idea how to start it....

My DH does the grocery shopping and brings the bags into the kitchen. I put the grocieries away, but often he helps with this too!

my hubby is the same way about doing the laundry- he would do a load every 6 hours if needed so I get it myself most of the time:rotfl::rotfl:

Dh is usually not home when I come home from the store, but the kids always carry the groceries in. I always make sure someone is home to carry them in for me or I don't go to the store.

Mine who tends to leave a trail of clutter wherever he goes practically knocks me down trying to get the bags. THAT he is good at. :)

If my dh were right there when I got home, he'd help w/out being asked (bringing them in, not putting them away). If he were laying on the couch watching tv or something, I might have to ask, but I'd only ask if I had a whole lot of them. I'm basically a sahm (I work a few hours in our business, but whenever I want to), so I consider the shopping/putting away "my" chore, and I try not to bother him w/ it. He works hard enough at our business... I like him to have his leisure time when he's home.

Now, if it were years ago when we both were working, I'd want/need the help, and the household 'chores' would be split more evenly (I pretty much do everything now, but again, it's part of my "job" in our family).

My dh has never run the dishwasher or the washer/dryer. I don't know if he could even turn them on honestly, and I'm positive he doesn't know where any of the detergents are. But again, not his job.

We do the grocery shopping together about 99% of the time and we have a deal. He brings in the bags and I unload them!

DH likes to get up early (7:00 a.m.) on Saturday morning and run around to 3-4 grocery stores to hit all the sale items. By the time I get up (9:00 a.m.), the groceries are usually put away. Saturday is the only day that I get to sleep in, so I am not wasting it by running around after 50 cents off cereal :confused3.

My DH always helps me even if I don't really need the help. But he's a southern gentleman.

My dad, on the other hand, would hear my mom coming in with bags and bags and he's shout out to her "you need help?" and she always got mad that he didn't just get up so she always said no, go back to your baseball game.:sad2:

My DH brings in the groceries and puts them away for me. He has a system, and it works, so I leave him alone. He also does all the dishes, since that's my least favorite chore. In fact, I had to ask him how to start the dishwasher the other day. :rolleyes1

He's definitely a keeper!
