Just curious - are there really any children posting here?

There are plenty of teens on these boards. Most stick to the teen boards but some will make an occasional appearance over here. I started posting here when I was 16 or 17 (I don't remember exactly when I registered), and have always stuck mostly to the community board. At that point I was a little old for the teen board; most of the people over there are more in the 14 year old range from what I can tell (most, not all). I've been here for about 2 1/2 years now, and have never seen anything here worse than what I heard everyday in highschool. In fact things here are much cleaner than what you hear in most high schools.

What the heck could a kid stumble on here? All the bad words are blocked. If a thread gets unpleasant it is locked. I would worry about prime time TV before this place. :happytv:

Thank you!!! Point and match!

Both of my girls have their own User names here on the DIS

one posts regualerly on the Teen board and the LTP here on the CB
the other very rarely posts
the computer just isn't her "thing" she would rather be Outside

My teenage DS is 15 -(Disneydude91) and occasionally posts. His most exciting thread that he started was last year regarding the TV :happytv: show "Seinfeld". He loves this show. However, on occasion he has chosen to speak his mind and give his opinion on certain topics that he feels very passionate about. Surprisingly he doesn't spend much time on the Teen board. He thinks we're more entertaining right here. :rotfl:

So the feeling I am getting is that the PARENTS of "children" on this board have seen nothing here that will corrupt the morals of their children. Just wanted to make sure it was safe to keep

Oh, and :drinking1 :dance3: :smokin: (these are not my smilies, they are Disboard approved)

DD (StitchfansJr) posts here sometimes and she will be turning 12 next month. She said there isn't much that interests her so that is why she only posts here once in a while. She goes to the teen virtual threads more.

I personally don't feel I am wrong like posted earlier for letting her either. I watch what she says and what she sees. Of course I don't stand over her shoulder but she is a good girl and I don't have a problem with her posting on the Dis.

Amen!!

Yeah, I would think most of the threads here would be boring to anyone under the age of 18.

Although, even though all this talk of melons, hot dogs, pickles, walnuts etc might seem childish to some-others get a kick out of it.

Which just goes to say-if you don't like the thread topic or maybe even the person who posted it-DON'T BOTHER READING IT!!!!

I think that the OP's point is she would like to see this board less heavily moderated, not that it isn't moderated enough at this time. If it were less heavily moderated then the possibly certainly exists that there would be things kids could stumble across.

The DIS has always been a 'family' board but those standards can often 'crimp the style' of some posters. I think they'd like to see the standards let down to some degree (varies on how much moderation people tend to want) so that they can post the things they want freely.

It's all a judgement call.

I am not calling for less moderation. Maybe more fairness.

It has been stated by someone that the joking around is not "family friendly". My point was that there are not alot of children here; but even if there were, the harmless joking, in my opinion, is less troublesome than many of the subjects I see spoken about so freely, that in my opinion, are not "family friendly".

(Sorry for the run on sentence)

I don't see how jokes about fruit are any worse than someone posting that they plan to try and get pregnant at Disney World.
