Just curious about ASMo rehab...

princess: Still in planning stage of an October 2005 trip...have always stayed at WL/VWL and our family wants to do so again, but we're willing to split the stay so we can experience another WDW resort. To help the budget, I was thinking of a MOD...CBR or CSR (Mardi Gras and rural Louisiana themes of POR just don't apeal to me). I was looking at the WDW official website with their virtual tours of the resorts and DS8 clicked on All Stars Movies and seemed really excited about it. Of course, I was thinking, "Yuk! It's going to be crowded, noisy and tiny!"
Well, I started checking out comments from people who'd stayed there and it actually doesn't sound quite as bad as I've been thinking---maybe! I did notice, however, on one site, there was a photograph of the Fantasia pool's curtain icon and it looked all sun-bleached, faded. The bedspreads looked a bit like that, too. Does anyone know if ASMO is due for any refurbishment anytime soon? Or are there any opinions anyone would like to offer?
Thanks!

Hi Karla,

I just read this past week somewhere on the boards that various buildings at AS Movies are currently undergoing renovations. I think the Mighty Ducks buildings were the ones in process or just done. I am going to be watching myself since we are planning to stay their next December. I think wdwig.com might be a good source for updates.

any CM's out htere know anything about one? IF we stayed there, it would probably be the 101 Dalmations or Fantasia bldg.

Thanks!

We stayed at ASMo last fall, and I didn't notice anything that looked fading. The pic I have at the pool, the curtain is a dark red, and our bedspreads were bright and colorful. We were in the Toy Story section, but the Dalmatians were bright and colorful, I think the buildings were orange or something? It was really cute.

Thanks for the report...now I can't find the online photos that made things look faded...maybe weird sunlight angle on the pool area or poor camera lighting for bedspread shot? Anyway, I'm glad to hear you had a favorable opinion about ASMo. The more I read the boards about it, it's sounding cleaner than some of the MODs!
Thanks again!

We stayed at ASMO in October in the Dalmations building and loved it. Now bear in mind it was our first visit to WDW (usually go to Disneyland and stay at the Disneyland Hotel) so we didn't have any other resorts to compare it to. We stayed there because that is where the kids wanted to stay. I was expecting some teeney, tiny room and was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is more like a motel but there were 4 of us and we had no problems. The bathroom looked brand new and was extremely clean. The carpet was also clean because I always make my kids wear socks in hotels and they never got dirty on that carpet. Food court was also very clean. If you are used to a Deluxe you probably won't feel quite as enamored as we did but for the money it cannot be beat! Now its off to Pop Century next week to enjoy a $49 AP rate!

The Fantasia pool at Movies underwent a rehab in Mid-May 2004. It was down while we stayed and was reopening as we were leaving. I'm not a pool person, so I could not tell you what they did, but it did have the fence around it.

Except for some minor need of touch-up paint where people bang walls with luggage going in and out, my room in Dalmatians was very nice.
