Just Curious…. Are yours REAL or FAKE?

Real. A fake one has nothing to do with saving the forest; our tree comes from a tree farm, not the woods. We cut them down and they plant new ones. I don't like to decorate weeks before Christmas anyway, then we are tired of the decorations by the time Christmas rolls around.

Throughout our marriage we have gone back and forth. I love real trees and I love the process of going out and picking one out. I also, however, love keeping my tree up for a month and I can't do that if I have a real tree. I also can be a bit of a space cadet so lighting pine scented candles (or any other kind) scares me since I am likely to forget when I leave the room and I don't want to risk burning down my house. Therefore, I usually pick up one of those plug-in Yankee Candle scent thingys that smells like a tree. I love Christmas trees. I'm always so sad when I have to take mine down.

Artificial - and beautiful!! :thumbsup2

I'm amazed to read in this thread how many of you have more than one tree.

You all are an ambitious bunch of holiday decorators! It's all I can do to deal with one fake tree.

Real! (The Christmas tree, that is. ;)) I'd never want a fake one.

In our younger yrs our C'mas trees had to be the real thing :thumbsup2! We loved the annual adventure with all 4 kiddies to a farm to tree shop. When I was 50yo I had a scary fall off a ladder while tree trimming. After that I decided it was time to go scale back to smomething smaller, prelit, artificial! I absolutely love it ~ so easy to set up, decorate, pretty and no fuss! :goodvibes

Oh yeah, pre lit is the only way to go. Of course last year the red trees had white lights, this year they are red, and I would rather the red, oh well.

And it does help the DH likes to see the decorations. Not too early, but by the middle of December. Then they have to come down and get packed up before NYE. On Christmas Day is good for him to see them gone.

We used to do real trees all the time when I was little. I have a fake at my apartment, and I'm thinking my parent's are going to use the fake one they have as well.

My grandmother will go all out and get a five-plus foot real one.

Real. Growing up we always had a real tree and I've continued that tradition with my own family. I think only once DH and I had a small tabletop fake tree, back in 1998. He ended up putting my engagement ring on the top of that little fake tree as the star, so good thing we didn't have a taller tree!

DH thinks I'm nuts for spending so much every year on a real tree, but I don't care. The first Christmas in our new house I bought the 10-12 foot tree, which was over $100. Every year since, I have settled for the 8-9 foot tree which is less. I think the extra couple of feet with the 10-12 was an extra $50-60!!

I can't imagine having a fake tree. I'm a little nervous about getting our tree this year since it'll be our first christmas with our Boston pups...they'll be almost 11 months old by Christmas. I'm afraid they will destroy the tree since they destroyed every potted plant I had on my patio!! We get our tree the day after Thanksgiving, so I guess I'll find out in a few weeks!

All three are fake. I don't like the thought of cutting trees down every year. Seems wrong and wasteful to me. We also have family members who seem to be allergic to evergreens so it is obviously much easier that way.

Mine are real and they're spectacular!

Oh, you meant Christmas trees. Never mind ... :)

Real. Getting our tree is a huge event, and has been since I was a kid. Back then we also bought a permit ($3, then $5, now $7) at the ranger station and drove up into the snow and tromped around hoping to be the one who found "the" tree. It was such an honor if yours was the one deemed worthy. Now we go to a great tree farm where every tree is $10, and it's a little easier to find that perfect one. Since we've always cut a live tree and got them right into water we've seldom had a problem with the tree drying out. Plus we always compost them or local boy scouts pick them up for a small fee as a fundraiser and shred them for mulch.

We use a real one if we are spending Xmas at home, but fake if we are traveling, so that we don't have to worry about leaving a live tree in the house. We own two fakes; a pre-lit 7 ft. green tree that we decorate when it it is used at home, and a 3 ft. fiber-optic silver one that we use only in hotel rooms.

We're "12 Days of Christmas" people; whatever tree we have goes up on Xmas Eve and is taken down on Epiphany.

I have one of each, lol!

Real one in the front living room and a fake one in the family room.

Fake trees in our house. Mom's allergies can't take the real thing. Christmas Eve at my sister's house is difficult for Mom with the real tree my sister always has.
