Just confirmed snow day #4!!

We've always had about 5 snow days built in to the schedule, but we live in a snowy climate.

I loved a snow day as a kid & actually enjoyed them even more when my kids were in school (they're all in college now, so no snow days). There's nothing more fun than waking up to hear school is closed & being able to enjoy the day together!

Well our school system have called off school Thursday and Friday. So that means go back to school Tuesday of next week. I understand that calling school. Half the city is either working on limit hours or close. We still have 9 inches of snow on the ground and ice. The high school down the street from my house is parking lot is a sheet ice and the rec center. We don't suppose get above freezing until Saturday. Then calling for another winterty mix again. Friend my call told there no meat or produce at the grocery store at all. I don't go back work until Tuesday because we follow school schedule. I fell going to the mailbox on ice. It still bad. I call to have my street plow and told they would add to the list. LOL

I agree. I guess the OP must have not grown up in the show belt to understand what fun & excitement it is to have a snow day. June will take care of June when it gets here. Plus, ALL the days in June are nice weather. Being young and able to get a "cheater's day" to play in the snow, that's part of the fun of snow days for kids.

The OP needing to be a spoil sport and ruin her kids excitement, that's about her. :sad2: One day when they are adults and are out of the house for good, she'll wish she had an excuse for them to come home. :p

PU_LEEZE Really wish there was a tonge and cheek button on this computer. Maybe you missed the :rotfl2: I was KIDDING!!!

We only had 1 inch of sleet and maybe 1/2 inch of freezing rain and the rural areas are still slick. My sister lives down a 1/2 mile long gravel road and she is having to park at the bottom and walk to her house every evening! It is like a sheet of ice, because the road is surrounded by woods.

The school system I work in is on schedule today. I actually have to babysit at 6:40am, so I am praying everything is clear.

We've had four snow days and will go to school tomorrow AND the next two Saturdays as well as President's Day and the end-of-semester teacher workday has been moved. At this point, spring break, however, has been preserved.

If I remember correctly from my North Carolina mountains youth, Saturday school is only allowed when children have been in school fewer than five days that week. When I was a kid, we hated to miss a day early in the week in the winters with lots of snow b/c we knew what would happen on Saturday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are doing a make-up on Martin Luther King Day and are getting hammered for it.

See, that's what I thought would make good sense considering we've been out this long, but we're out on Monday too. No disrespect to Dr. King, but I thought that would have been a good day to cover at least one of the 6 days we've missed.

Today is either the 10th or 11th day we've missed this year and my kids could care less about summer vacation at this point. It's all about playing in the snow right now. Frankly, I don't mind either. I'm one of those rare people that much prefer winter weather to summer. We missed a ton last year and were still out of school before Memorial Day. Granted, our school system knows we are going to miss a bunch and build quite a few days into the calendar. Last year they did add 30 minutes to the day and will probably do the same this year. Saturday school makes no sense to me because I'm certain attendance would be horrid and they would lose a ton of money anyway.:confused3

Really? They're kids--they live in the moment. It's not their fault that school is being canceled.

My thoughts exactly! Gosh I remember as a kid how excited we were for a snow day. They didn't happen often but wow what a great time when we did have one. Summer felt so far away.

I wish work had snow days!
